I'm going to cut mine in at 17. I have the template and I'm ready to cut.
I'm going with a 500 inch bbc at around 500 to 550 horse. I hope the 17 is where I need to be. I'm tempted to push it to 17.5.

Why did you settle with the 17 instead of the 17.5? I called the pantera factory and spoke with pepe and he told me 17.25so i think thats what im going to be setting it at wheni get to that point.

Hey x. I guess I was thinking 17 because of the reading here. I found an old thread where joe recommended 17.
I don't want the prop to break free in the turns so I'm thinking a conservative 17 inches will work.
I wonder how much top end I would gain by going up .25 to .5 inches a d if I would loose prop grip in the turns if I did.
Anyhow, good luck with your project.

There is nothing measurable to gain by going higher than 17.5 and prop choices are greatly increased below 17.25 as well as prop hold in turns. Of course if you want to have several Herring 5 and 6 blades made up to test then go as high as you want to but with m+ and B1's stay with the proven #'s
