24 Foot TRS x dimension
There is a lot of talk about x dimension for bravo but TRS is kind of out of the picture now. The transom in my boat will be done in about a week and im trying to figure out if i should move it or just leave it where it is
And no I am not switching to bravo because i have a freshly rebuilt drive and transmission that have less than 10 hours on them and i happen to like TRS its big and bulletproof |
Leave it, high x does little for a Pantera 24.

He's right , it only increased my MPH by 9 . and made the boat feel safer and not walk all over the place . Don't change a thing . Who cares about speed and safety anyway ?
The boat I am referring to was a TRS for Bravo swap with a somewhat raised X so very similar to your situation. |
i would be sending pm's to tomas-wallen and ask him for his heaight measurement. i know he is a bravo drive but he has his boat dialed in pretty dam good.

Total, complete a$$hole sarcasm aside, from the horses mouth, Jo, and my experience with a 24. Higher x does not help much. Boat never aired out with good trim with a higher x. Very wet at top speed. Lost leverage. After discussing it with Jo, he agreed. That is my experience. +9mph from higher x only? Good luck..

I forget the exact #s now so I won't make them up but he gave me examples of boats and their strong and weak points with varying X. There was like 6 or so different height cuts usually jumping in 1/2" increments. he WILL tell you what he likes best for all around. For bravo I think it's 16. |
good info here http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/p...ls-496-ho.html

I believe Jo said 17 was the best allround height.
I think I cut mine at 18-1/2, prop shaft is about 3-1/2" below bottom. I also redid the Delta pad and extended the inner strakes a couple ft. Best speed so far with stock 496 Mag Ho with headers is 83mph and I can keep my hands off the wheel for 10 seconds before it gets unsteady... |
Im looking to hit 70 with a rebuilt 420 mag/roller cam/stainless marine exhaust/holley 800.
Im not building a race boat im running the boat in buzzards bay MA in some relatively rough water so handling is more important than speed... i like to get on plane quickly too.. but i still want to hit 70 if i can lol some of the old school dudes must know what the perfect TRS x dimension is.. I have heard 17 1/2 but not sure |

Even if he is busy he will give u a minute of advice on your trs X although the pantera & excalibur running surfaces are a lil different which I think u know. call nopper in Fairhaven he has experience with 24s. I think a friend of his has a excalibur / trs. Ask how it runs and bring your tape measure over |
