So what is the deal?

I’m starting the process of looking into moving up and like the looks of the Pantera 28.

I hear people talking about them not being able to deliver a new boat and at the same time I here a lot of talk about how great they are.

So what is the deal?

hp500efi 09-07-2004 12:42 PM

Re: So what is the deal?

also, what is the schedule on the new 32'? I read in PB mag that Pantera is going to come out with a new 32' with twins and make the 28' for the single.

Re: So what is the deal?

Better do your homework on this board before you decide to buy a new Pantera. My advice would be to look for a real fresh used one. Current delivery time is approximately two years later than promised. Call Dom Z or Full Throttle or American Express, or Sonny, etc.etc. I think Dom would be willing to sell his 2003 with zero hours on both the motors, drives or even the hull.

Re: So what is the deal?

Hi Bcoffield,

We are trying to be back to our 5-6 month delivery schedule within the next few weeks on new custom made 28 orders. We fell behind on a few customers Panteras recentley after our 2 accidents late last year but we are almost caught up again, and have made it up to them.

If I can answer any other questions for you on the 28' please feel free to email me at [email protected] or call me at 305-948-5600.

In reference to the ride : I say just ask Pantera owners on what they think.

HP500 EFI,

We do have drawings on top of our desk for a new Pantera 32' twin for next Summer. It will have lines similar to our 36' Survivor with some new very innovative ideas incorporated into it.

Will be taking orders on the new Pantera 32' soon.

Chuck,

We spoke to Dominick a few times today and he is very excited to go out and run his new Pantera 28' this weekend.

His boat has not been 2 years since he ordered it. It has been exactly 1 year and 5 months. By the way Domz 28' is a 2004 model.

I hope I have the chance to meet you face to face real soon so that we can clear up what your personal problem is with me and my Family. I have never met you in person and sold you anything. Why dont you just worry about yourself and let Dominick post if he has a problem with us.

Why dont you just call me right now at 305-948-5600.

Re: So what is the deal?

Jo, I do want to apolagize for the antagonistic nature of the posts. Although you are right, we have never done business and certainly never will I can't help but stand up for my friends when they have been wronged. People that are in a sitution like Dom's and some of your other customers are sometimes not really willing to say the things they want to say. Need I remind you, you have the boat and all the money. Well I'm sure your a smart guy and can figure out where some of these sentiments come from. I will stay out of this mess with no further comments if you would just meet your most recent committment to Dom. You really have no idea the aggravation and expense your delays have caused, and then to charge him for delivery after all of this mess is really unbelievable. Take a moment and put yourself in his shoes or his back pocket$$ (depriciation, interest, dock space, airline tickets, cell and land line bills,no boat for 2 seasons, and most of all$$$$ INSURANCE).Deliver his boat and you will never see me in this Pantera forum again. Let your conscience be your guide on the delivery charge.

Re: So what is the deal?

I guess Chuck has never hit a bump on the road. How about 30 years later and over 1,000 Pantera boats delivered with satisfied Pantera owners all around the world.

I am proud that My family and I are all still together after 30 years doing what we enjoy the most. Very few manufactures can state that claim.

Sometimes I think you and a few other (3-4) ball brakers here on OSO that dont know us or ever purchased a Pantera or sat your ass in one just try and enjoy yourselfs trying to just instigate us all the time.

I have never met you or spoken to you but I hope I do have that chance soon.

Re: So what is the deal?

I guess after Dominck takes delivery this weekend that will be the best thing for you to do then. We have made his delay up in many ways. Sorry I can not do anything with the freight.

With what Domick paid for the boat he will be doing really well. On his first 1999 Pantera 28' that he purchased from me he used it for a season and made money on it with me. On this new 28' he actually was the one that brought to my attention that we were selling the boats to inexpensive, ASK HIM. We speak to Domz everyday .

Quite beating around the bush, you know you want one. Just buy TimG's 28 and figure out a way to get it to run faster than Thirsty Turtles. :D Hope to see you on the river.

Jo -

Please deliver the boat soon just so Chuck can keep his promise and crawl back under the rock from which he appeared!!!

It's so easy for these idiots to just shoot off their mouths over the internet, yet they never call you to talk to you or show up to talk face to face. I applaud your direct responses to posts such as these. You guys build a great boat with a great reputation and anyone that has done the research knows the hardships that you have overcome in the past year. Hopefully you'll get deliveries back to normal and chase all these guys back under their rocks!

Re: THE REAL DEAL

jo,
i`ve got a great idea sell one of these guys on your "waiting list" the boat that you say you built for my dad, and that you say is just laying around the shop. then go directly to the bank and send the money to ohio (BEFORE YOUR TEMPTED TO KEEP IT). hell i bet if you do this my dad wont have to shut you down. as for telling these people to crawl under a rock, i have my price- pay the judgment and you`ll never hear from me again. see folks jo really is in the drivers seat when you have him build a boat. first you (or a bank) give him a large amount of money. then a couple of months go by and he says "boat looks great its the best one i ever built your going to be so happy with it " by this point if you are using a bank he has probably commited fraud by saying that they are further along then they really are and making a draw. then a couple of more months go by he takes more money and says that the boat will be done any day . days turn to weeks turn to months turn to years. moral of the story is that ANYBODY THAT GIVES ANY MONEY TO PANTERA WITHOUT GETTING A BOAT AT THE SAME TIME IS A FOOL!!! SEE THEY DONT HAVE A PROBLEM KEEPING MONEY THAT ISN`T THEIRS. IF YOU DO WANT A PANTERA THERE ARE PLENTY OF USED ONES FOR SALE OUT THERE. MY DAD ORDERED ONE 4 YRS AGO LONG BEFORE JO`S ACCIDENTS EVEN THEN THE WAIT WASN`T 5-6 MONTHS WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO WAIT FOR A BOAT THAT LONG WHEN YOU CAN WALK INTO ANY DEALERSHIP TODAY AND HAVE ONE TOMOROW. CUSTOM BOAT MEANS MORE MONEY AND TIME FOR THE SAME PRODUCT. ONCE AGAIN IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY THINK REAL CAREFULLY ABOUT HOW MUCH CONTROL YOU HAVE WHEN JO HAS BOTH THE BOAT AND THE MONEY FOR MORE INFORMATION REFER TO THE BAD BUSINESS SECTION THE BOATS AREN`T BAD JUST THE GUYS BUILDING THEM
REGARDS,
JIMMY

Jo, Thanks for your response.
I do have a question for you and at this time would prefer to ask it on OSO. If ordered a new 28' with twin 496/ho, full hydraulic steering, swim platform, Silent choice exhaust, GPS Speedo, snap in carpet, graphics etc. and to make it simple let’s say the total was 140k. What type of money are you looking for upfront with balance due at delivery and how long for delivery?

People are selling their boats without running them, someone needs to jump all over these boats because no other 28 can take flight time like the Pantera. I saw this picture of Jerrys race boat it is a 94 mine is a 95 pure race boats and they still look like new with all the pounding and stress they go through. This has to be the nicest air shot of any Pantera, yes including yours Bruce. :drink: look how straight the boat is in the air, talking about a good set up, good job Jerry :drink: see you in the worlds in Key West.

I know you have your problems but that statement is a crock of chit

Lets see what a mass produced boat looks like after a beating like goumada took in Point without a stress crack or like mine after Atlantic City, Pt Pleasant, and New York and it still looks new.
Do this with a boat off the showroom and you'll be picking up the pieces.
I have been racing this boat since I had it built in 2000 and have been in this position many times and this boat has held together beautifully. If anyone remembers Daytona 2001 I flew more than the Concord, broke a solid race motormount, had the engine shift 4 inces forward, ruptured a kidney, and didn't get a single stress crack

Re: So what is the deal?

Hi Ron,

Go ahead and post a picture of your Gelcoat stress crack so we can see where its at and take care of it for you. If you launch a boat out in rough water at high speed and take a hard landing a small flex in the gelcoat can occur in any Hi- Performance boat. After 30 years of building these boats and running them hard in nasty water we know on where to reinforce the most critical areas.

How you throttle the boat makes a huge difference on how much abuse a boat will take in rough water. If you throttle right on the money and keep your forward momentum going from wave to wave it will decrease the boat pounding allot.

Also landing hard on its side while turning in rough water is another way to give extra punishment to the boat.

Let me know if we can take care of it. Go ahead and run it hard !!!

Wow.......2.7 boats a month. That is amazing when it takes >2 years to build one. That means that there are about 64 hulls around the shop in various states of completion on the assembly line. LOL WAFJ!!!

I have to say I have owned a lot of very nice boats including a 38 Top Gun, 28ss Cigarette, 302 Formula and a classic 18 Donzi.

The 2003 Race Layup lightweight Pantera I presently own (since 2008) is the best built boat I have ever owned. Out in Lake Huron I have never seen the deck flex or move in any way, all of my other boats have bounced or jiggled. I do not race it but would feel confident to run it in any reasonable water conditions.

Also beyond durability the ride quality is excellent and it seems like the faster you go the better it rides. Plus the ability to run 70 on a full 28 without steps and a single reliable 530 HP 502 is awesome for efficiency. I love this boat and have owned it 2 years longer than any other boat in my past with no plans to sell it soon.

I think a lot of the positive comments from Pantera owners comes from how the Nunez family helps owners with old boats. They were very helpful to me when I was rigging my boat since I bought it without power, at that time they had nothing to gain from being helpful to me. Later, I asked them to build me a new hatch with sunpad to replace my race hatch at a very inexpensive cost. I'm very happy with the hatch, it looks outstanding and fit perfectly.

I highly recommend their boats quality and performance ..... thanks - Mike

Thanks! love the 6 pack and your twin machine, I am surprised how much lower your twin sits in the water ....

88bullet 09-06-2012 11:25 AM

yeah it does. but the extra weight seems to keep it really stable in the rough water. it handles way better than my old notched transom boat. havent driven the 6 pack yet to compare to tho.

on another note.... fullthrottle525's old boat is back up and running and according to the builder its running in the 90's

I am not a part of the drama nor have I ever done business with Pantera but my Pantera boat runs pretty well and I have no complaints about the boats quality or ride especially in rough conditions.
