Race Report:

We did end up taking three close 2nd places this week at Key West.

On Wednesday we ended up finishing 13 seconds behind the JBS racing Donzi. We were overweight by approximately 600 pounds and hitting the Rev limiter at 5450 RPM on the inside part of the coarse with 5 blade Hydro PX props.

We ended up removing the 600 pounds for Saturdays race but decided not to make changes to the prop set up since the water was a little rougher than on Wednesday's race. We ened up leading the first lap out of 5 laps and ran a very close race with the JBS Donzi again and finished a mere 5 seconds behind at the Finish line with a 2nd place. Boat was hitting the Limiters again on the inside part of the coarse but the 5 blade Hydros were working excellent in the rough water section spinning at 5350 RPM in an average and running close to 86 MPH in real 4-5 footers. Top speed this day was 91 MPH on tattle tale. The boat was flying nice and level and eating up the Rough water.

After Saturdays race we had decided we were going to need to get off the rev limiters at 5450 RPM and decided to speak to Mat and Julie at Throttle Up about doing a minor pitch adjustement to the 5 blade props that would give us a little more push in the calm water part of the coarse and not sacrafice much in the rough water acceleration. For some reason the change knocked down our RPM to 4950 RPM at the start and a best of 5100 RPM toward the end of the race with very little acceleration. The boat also tend to push to the starboard side amd get more bow lift that we did not need. I know Mat at Throttle Up Props did everything in his power to give us a Winning prop change but it back fired on us. We ended up in another close 2nd place and a Overall 2nd in the World Champonships.

We will be back next year.

F2 class had a tough group of race boat teams from Pantera, Donzi, Formula, Fountain, and Phantom. It was a tough race and a great group of competitors.

It was nice to have so much support from the Fans and Offshore Only members.

I will post some incredible rough water pics. that will be sent to me soon from the outside part of the coarse. Also Jeff from Freeze Frame Video taped F2-71 on 2 race days in case you want to purchase race coverage.

Just got this awesome picture in a 16 by 20 size of F2-71 on the outside rough water section of the coarse while racing on Wednesday's race.If anyone interested in buying one I can pass on info.

Here is also a picture of our 2nd place trophy plaque. Allot of hard work went into winning this award this past week.

JO:

Congratulations on some great racing. It sure is a BIG boost to Pantera on your successful appearance. I'm hoping things only get better from here.

The pic looks awesome. I'd definitely like the video and a picture. Please email me the information so I can obtain them ([email protected]).

The best to you and your family. Happy Thanksgiving to All.

Ron
