No problem Bruce, I believe it is a 30p or 29p.
I agree with you both Albert and Bruce, he was asking tons of questions and argued with me over 5k for my boat, when buying a boat then having it shipped overseas 5k is a problem? and he told me he never heard of your boat Bruce?
Jerry cant wait to rub some rails again, I will call you next week and the vinyl lady Tina was asking about you

If they are using a prop calculator , what is the efficiency number they are using for deep vs' ??

according to SBI calc. Pitch x RPM x .01, ./. Gear Ratio, ./. 12 = Speed
29p x 5000rpm x .01 divided by 1.50 divided by 12 = mph 80.55
can I turn more rpm's sure but then the speed is WAY off

Luke,
From the formula you have given from SBI, It looks like they are using a.88 efficiency factor (12 % loss) .

Single engine Panteras have a loss of from 16-18 % running B1 4 blade props .
My boat turns a 28 @ 5000 RPM abd runs 72-74 mph -
Which shows an efficiency of 83%.(.83)
Formula is ;
RPM*Prop*.000942 * eff. / drive ratio
where eff. is hull efficiency -

Luke, if your boat turns a 29 at 5400, your spped is around 80 - 82 mph ; does this sound right?

I will know as soon as the weather breaks, never had a speedo or gps on the boat, felt more like around 75mph I thought.

Lukie...

if you can turn a 29 at 5000, theoretically, you should be running 80, easily. then again, in '03 we were turning a 26 @ 5900 and only hitting 78. the calc. says 85.

last year, (different motor) we were running a 24 @ 5900 and ran 73. the calc. says 78.67

Go Figure

so... like Jerry said, I think the slip on the single Panteras is much higher than 12%

To be honest , anything under 80 feels slow in the Pantera 28 . The dam thing is so stable !
Luke , I would love to go for a ride in your when you get it done .
LEt me know .

A true statement, I have done test after test and 15% slip is where my 28 turns the best speeds. Go figure......

True Jerry 80 is ideal for the 28, Lukie I love to throttle your boat in the Point Pleasant race.
