At that time Todd was running an open cockpit 29' Phantom named Phantaseas. Nigel throttled Archer Marine and Bob throttled Team Thoroughbred.

We can only dream of having as good a career as any of those racers.Rick Turmell also ran with Todd.Hopefully SVL can grow in the next years.

Those were great years. I was lucky enough to race the Flashpoint Boat (a 26' Corsa) in A Class from '92 to '97 with some sucess. We started as 3 firefighters with about 20 thousand dollars total investment and had a great time, made a lot of friends and got to go to wonderful places for the races.
The mid '90s had some of the largest fleets ever in offshore, wish that could return.....
The canopy boats did run us out.

I also heard the same thing, that the canopied boats also contributed to the end of A class. The racer that got us started ran A class in a 26 corsa which I still own called Super Technologies.

As far as I'm concerned, you guys and Shogun should have received the "Brass Balls Award" in those days! Big water in the smallest boats in the class.

Thanks for the complement. A lot of teams raced hard in smaller boats back then, remember the 22’ A Class Velocity’s? I guess our back ground in Motocross helped some.
I know this is a Phantom forum and not looking to tarnish the canopy boats in any way with my statement they “ran us out”; as they are much safer at the speeds the class grew to. In ’94 to ’96 we did have a few members of A Class leave their boats unexpectedly. Our team included (Palm Beach ’96) It would have been nice to somehow save the idea of the old “A Class”, but time marches on. I guess the “P” classes are close now.
Best of Luck to all the SVL Teams.
