I would like to go out Sunday, weather permitting. I have not been out since that day we hung together in Lloyd's Creek, due to weather, family functions, illness,...
I still need to test the propellers I got re-worked, again. So with that being said, I think Sunday 99.99 percent sure.

I recently spoke with the present owner, Rick, who bought the Hairy Canary from my father. I am glad that he purchased that boat, because he really enjoys it. He is a really nice guy.
There are so many great memories from boating in that Magnum. I am sure you have seen this picture of my father but just in case you did not, here he is at a Barnegat Bay radar shoot-out in the 1990's.
I am still not living in Mays Landing, but that is another story for another time. Hope all is well.

Going to Kent's tomorrow. I have been dialing in these Bravo's 4-blades (had cup added, then cup removed...testing, testing) and had a fuel leak fixed.
Looking to run out (and get in a race or two if possible) in the ocean, then off to Corson's Inlet (Ocean City side) with my brother and his family.
Maybe I will see you there. It is only two months later, but I will finally get there.

Initially I had lost speed with the prop work, but I have to be completely honest, my dumb ass was not paying attention when I put the props back on after the first time getting them re-worked I had put a second thrust washer on by mistake. Went boating and when I ran up to 88 mph and tried to trim the boat it slowed considerably. No f*cking wonder, my dumb ass caused the props to loose their grip and cavitate with the extra thrust washer when I trimmed it out.
Then I go back to the propeller shop, and want more cup added not knowing that I have two washers on each drive, and he adds cup. Once the extra washer is removed I was turning 4600/4700 rpmsbecause of the twice added cup by the propeller shop which I requested. Last Monday went back to Murphy's Propellers and had them remove some cup...presto...The boat gets up on plane without using the trim tabs, and runs faster than it did in May..
I have only gained 1 mph on Saturday, but the boat will get up on plane much easier. I had four people (70 plus gallons of fuel) in the boat so It may actually be 2 mph (50-50 chance of 92 mph with a light load of fuel on a cool day with two people in the boat) for an apples to apples since it was only Will Smith and I in the boat in the 90 mph runs in Sarasota.
I should have left the props alone from the get-go. Live and learn. I would really like to try a set of Hyrdomotive P5X 31" and 32", or a 32" Maximus.
If my father were still alive he would have gotten more mph. There is no way in hell after having ran a consistent 87/86 mph with 502/415's (the 502's did have Gil Headers, and cylinder head work, so the were more than 415 propshaft hp) that he would have settled for a 4 mph to 5 mph gain with new 540's. BUT then again, these are 519 hp motors, so it seems pretty good for a true 34' boat. Very, very stable at 90 mph, not scary or exciting, just gets there and rides along. Nothing like that Magnum my father had, that was an animal on occassions (but still my favorite boat), night and day between these boats.
That was only the third time the boat was in the water since we brought it back from Florida. It was a good day.
