Ok... for the sake of getting the ball rolling I will kick this off and get the ball rolling as I really want to see this happen.
I will also contact Chris and see if they are still interested in this..
Here is what I propose.
Dates: Either March 9-10-11th or March 16-17-18th.
I would like to see a nominal fee, maybe $150.00 a boat, with a the winners getting o say maybe $3-500.00 and the rest going to the local support fund to help out the tornado victims in this area.
We would also have an auction going on Saturday night with the proceeds from that going for the same cause. I would love to see us raise a decent amount of money and donate it from our boating community.
I have a lot of contacts in the area and I am sure we can get some quality donations for the auction and some direct donations.
I realize this would be an aggressive schedule but I believe it is necessary in this case to do it sooner then later. We would obviously need a few local people working hard on this to make it happen quickly and I am more then willing to donate my time to make it happen.
Here is a schedule I had in mind.
Friday
- Afternoon arrival for anyone that wants to come in that night.
- Open Registration
- Evening Happy Hour at local establishment
Saturday
- 7AM Registration Open
- Docks open, photos, etc.
- 10AM Run Begins
- Lunch stop at Stop 4 around 12-12:30
- Finish Run about 3PM
- Dinner at local establishment (Thinking Frosty Mug)
- Award and auction to follow at same place.
Sunday
- Fun Run Day
A couple things can happen on Sunday. If we can arrange it, we can make our way to Lady Lake area and make a donation that day to a local charity representative. If not we can do that later in the week.
Also on Sunday during the fun run I want to see if we can do a photo day as well. I know we can do some running shots, and some video run bys as I have a place in mind, beyond that aerial would need to be investigated, but doable if participation is good.
Here is a route I put together, but by all means PLEASE provide some feedback and thoughts on how to improve.

Its small so click below for a bigger image.

Forgot to mention, distance of the run as it is currently setup would be approx. 40~42 miles running from stop to stop, and over 50 miles overall back to the ramp.. Lots of other places to run as well, so the fun run could be another 30 miles give or take depending on where we go..

There are some decent hotels in the area and a couple marinas we should be able to get slips at. Im gonna check with one tomorrow and see where there capacity is.
Hotels should not be a problem as there is everthing from low end up to resort (Mission Inn) which are near or on the lake.. Mission Inn has there own marina right on Lake Harris, so that is always an option.
