Another great weekend out on the water! After last weekend of running to the Tapp Saturday, and out to Claudio's Sunday, it was actually kind of nice to just hang local!
Yup, Port Jeff definately has a 5mph no wake zone once you're through the breakwater, although it apparently only gets enforced with our boats. As they were writing me the $100 ticket, just about every other boat out there went cruising by up on plane. The cop did have the decency to remind me that if I could afford to put gas in my boat, the $100 wouldn't mean much..
My boat is parked for this coming weekend - I'll be out in Montauk for a shark tournament.
Gladhe8er - I know the boat you're talking about, and met the owner a few years ago, but haven't seen him since. At the time, he told me he was always out around Cochenie (I definately spelled that wrong, but you get the idea).

I remember him being around Cockenoe all the time a few years ago but he has been MIA for the last year or two. Yesterday was the first time I have seen the boat in years and work has definitely been done to the engine just by hearing it running 1/4 mile away. Only reason why I am curious because my dad will be picking up his new progression from the factory in a few weeks...same model only his will be outboard powered. It will be a mini version of the "Black Duck."

Gladhe8er...too bad you had to rush by. Diane and I took some family to Port Jeff for the day, had a great time!! Did you see me in the am or pm? During the pm (5ish) I heard somebody making noise inside the islands, is that who you're talking about? Oh heard the Skater first LOL then saw it heading to Overton's. How da heck does he fit that thing in those slips??

Ron, we should be out this weekend, probably have a family member or two with us, not sure yet. Might go hang around Northport for a change and grab some eats. If it's hot enough, maybe Sand Hole for some swimming. My Captains Call is broken, the DEP or whatever they're calling them is buzzing all around the Norwalk harbor. I'm sure I'll attract some attention until that issue gets fixed.

Let me know what you're doing. My friend Phil and I may hit LaMotta's on friday if weather is cooperating. I'm up for anything on Saturday and/or Sunday so far.

Don't worry about the noise too much...it only cost me $175.00 last year !

Ron...I did some research to see who voted (in my district) for the boat noise bill. If I get one, it's getting sent directly to my representative.

It will probably be the same lame duck that will vote for the speed restriction as well. I don't think it has been introduced yet, but I'm sure it's being thought of.

Saw you in the AM. I was just taking a cruise thru the marina when my GF called and said she was locked out of the house. I don't think she would have been too happy if I left her waiting there to talk about boats! The noise you heard from 5-7 was that Progression I was talking about in my earlier post.

I haven't seen any DEP in Norwalk harbor yet. I'm sure they'll be around this weekend if you have seen them already. I'll try to "sneak" on by, but I know I am over the limit.

We are going to do a Long Island day this weekend. Might try the Sand Hole for the first time.

When is the mohegan sun poker run date?

Mohegan Sun is July 27-28. Its going to be a great event and is right around the corner!!!

If it's your first time there, don't go under 2 hours either side of low tide. You need to get to know the bottom first. You can't go wrong hugging the island side, NOT THE ROCK JETTY TO THE HARBOR SIDE. If you're unsure, just follow some of the locals in and you'll have no problems.
