I-75 to KY 80 is the best way by far!! It will also be the quickest. Going I-65 north and East Cumberland Parkway is all very good road, but will be longer than the I-75 route. 20 some years ago there was only small windy 2 lane road access to the area.

Have been driving to Cumberland for 18 years from Atlanta, the best route is 111 out of chat. A lot of it is double lanes/divided highway and hardly any traffic, very few towns. Do not take 127 from I24 out of Chat, that's signal mountain, we pulled a 24ft Donzi that way with a Dodge Ram deisel and it was a nightmare. Take 27 from I24 to 111.

We never take I75 from chat the rest of the way up to cumberland after we found this route.

The worse part is 127 from 90 to State Dock.

Also you may want to check http://www.511ga.org/ It will give you info on road construction on I75. Last trip we made a couple weeks ago construction on I75 between Mareitta and Cartersville, backed up for miles.

I think it's only like 5 miles from State Dock, which is another plus when you are talking about gas useage or coming back to the dock after dark. We are still debating staying at Harmon for the night or cruising back to State Dock. Will there be people in this cove all night also?

Great map, that's exactly the spot. Just everyone remember it's a dry area so if you see "da man" keep drinks down. But if they are in a cup, you shouldn't have a problem.

How bad is the trip from Grider Hill to State Dock by land? Trying to decide whether to by land or water Saturday night.

And even more so, if your swimming around in the water with a beer in your hand and the water patrol pulls in, DON'T SINK THE CAN!! They probably already have ID'd whose drinkin, and if it's gone, they will tag you for littering on top of the open container. Just use a cup!
