Default Lake Cumerland Poker Run 2014

What's up with the two day format and 9 stops? A fellow boater brought it to my attention. First I've heard or seen of this. Is this an "option" for some with an organized start on Saturday?

Here is my guess…

Corp of Engineers: "We don't want to end the Poker run because of the past accidents , but something has to change, we/you(StateDock) have a year to figure it out"

Answer: http://www.lakecumberlandpokerrun.ne...p-itinerary-2/

If my guess is correct, I understand and support their decision. Considering the COE could simply stop the event.

But, this format really sucks. Most of the fun for me is the "shot gun start" as they put it.

I think there will be a lot of people waiting for the start on Sat.

There isn't going to be a "start".

No 100+ power boats floating outside the no wake zone, 1,000,000HP idling, waiting to be unleashed.

No crazy fun rough water. Taking off, water spraying over the bow.

I could go on and on, but its too sad

I'm local, so I'll be there no mater what. But I'm not in to the party scene. The run WAS the only fun part for me.

Very well put. This kind of format takes the Adrenaline out of the mix. They changed the Old Hickory Music city run from a shotgun start to this format and it really took the excitement out of the event for me. Still fun but just not the same. Oh well. They had the opportunity to self-police the 170 MPH + first card stop racers after the first death but the organizers didn't want to risk them not showing up. Too late now.

Time for an organized shootout like Ozarks, Desert Storm. Need to get this going or the LCPR will die a slow death.

Is this why there has not been a thread on it like years past?

This year at our Nashville run we WERE allowed to do a shotgun start with 4 different groups..our law enforcement (TWRA) sets our rules for our run...

This actually worked very well. We were in the 4th group and to be honest, any more boats and it would have been tough to spread out enough to get thru the tight parts of the river.
