Geeze. I was just wondering what events are left with a higher proportion of big power boats left… other than Tickfaw , the at your own pace events don’t interest me. Wasn’t asking where we can get drunk lol
sitting around a dock full of outboards and cc also don’t interest me at all either.
so again, what runs are left , that might still have pockets of “real” powerboats. I literally couldn’t care less of what party or can I run “full throttle” lol neither are the point

315Duramax,
You'll find everything you're looking for at both of these events. Lots of big power running all over from POI to POI. Since eliminating the shotgun start and scheduled route, in addition to opening the run on Friday instead of Saturday, most of the "PokerRun" is done by end-of-day on Friday, then everybody just kind of runs around the lake, checking out it's many nooks and crannies. You'll see what can only be called races all over the place. I, myself, have found myself in a skirmish or two, just because somebody thought we looked fast, I guess. Harmon is hopping both Friday and Saturday. Moreso on Saturday, though. We don't engage in any raft-up here. We just anchor out in the harbor, occasionally tying up with other boats, familiar and stranger alike. The people watching is amazing (all kinds; not just the sordid kind). The ThunderRun is still the shotgun start. I don't know if it's a scheduled route or not. I do find it odd that the promoters changed the format for the PokerRun, supposedly for safety reasons, but kept the old format for the ThunderRun, even though it's the same promoters.
The debris is mostly cleared up by the middle/end of June, but I could see skipping it if that is a concern. Memorial Day is a sh!tshow, as far as the debris. The 4th of July it's pretty much cleared up. But September, you're fine. This is not to say you don't put your blinders on, though.
Thanks. Brad.

Either I've never been to a "real" PokerRun, or I'm just not grasping what you're looking for. If it's the "bar to bar to bar to bar" thing you're looking for, it ain't happening. Otherwise, there are literally HUNDREDS of real power boats of varying degrees that show up for the LCPR, with several dozen of the being BIG power, and they run all over the lake (mostly the "big end") the whole weekend. Yes, most of them either end up parked at Harmon or at least cruise through.
I would say definitively, it's worth trucking to south central KY at least once for the event. Just sayin'....
Thanks. Brad.

Thunder Run @ Lake Cumberland has changed dates to help with water conditions and has some very nice hardware. Kuttawa Cannonball Run where I live is ran on Lake Barkley through the canal and over onto Ky Lake extending to Paris landing are in Tn. A long run with some nice hardware at this one as well and if you want run upfront the well over 100 mph is where you'll be.

We were on KY Lake exactly once, when we bought the PQ, and we both rolled away agreeing that we'd never go back. Beautiful lake, but the channel marker thing gave me the heebie jeebies. I'm used to Cumberland, where, if you're in the water, you're in enough water (except Camp Earl Wallace, which is very clearly marked and is easily steered clear of). Then I read about the boat that hit a submerged tree during the Kattawa Run (not a log; a tree), got split from gullet to groin and sank is something like 43 seconds. I wouldn't mind doing the Kattawa Run, but that sh!t worries me more than the debris. Is it as bad as my mind has made it out to be?
Thanks. Brad.

So sorry Kevin we didnt stay on the exact topic for you buddy. The thread developed, that`s how the internet forums work, so sorry. We`ll try better for you.
So you want no egos, no alcohol and talk about engines all day on the dock all day ? Sounds like a super fun sausage fest if anyone were to actually show up.
I like running my boat and I don`t care who with. I`m not a huge fan of CC`s but I see the appeal.
They`re not sitting around the dock talking about all the BBC issues they`ve been having because those days of wrenching are behind them.
I like all the runs , never been at one where I was all mad because someone chooses to run a CC lol
I hope this brings it back to the topic, I`ll try not to talk about anything else like cops at poker runs because appearantly it doesnt pertain to the topic.
I agree we need to make poker runs great again!
Majority have turned into ego's and alcoholics. But not the gearhead kind who want to run real offshore powerboats. Most just want to show off their money or are just wanna be ballers.
Theres not even much gearhead conversation anymore.
Sad...

The organizers did the right thing.

I agree with the above, Jax was always a blast.
Also, if you're really serious, sell your house move to Cape Coral and
join Ft Myers Offshore.

Edit-- Aaaaannnd there's always Shootout/Skatercats.
And Texas Outlaw...

I didn’t think my post was that difficult to comprehend.
“where is there a solid group of big power, (not outboard) who like to run and not sit around all day”
How are we 4 pages of nonsense. My post was not that hard to understand. Gee. Thank you, sure I’ll go run my boat in the shootout.. not what I’m asking for.
