Is this the 23 Powerplay from T. Mason

Tom Mason Bought Powerplay at the bankruptcy auction of Powerplay about two years ago. Tom Mason sold Midnight Express last April. The 23 was a pet project of Tom and his son, Tommy. They are going to be selling the 23 O/B Sportdeck, 33 I/O Sportdeck, 33 O/B Sportdeck, 33 I/O Center Console, 33 O/B Center Console, 38 O/B Sportdeck, and 38 I/O sportdeck.
You really need to see the new 23 in person before you pass any judgement. The hull is based on a classic, great riding design with some very innovative modern features. An intregrated transom with boarding steps on both sides; retractable boarding ladder; hydraulic rear bench; flip-up center-dash for easy cabin access; ample cockpit storage; the best hardware available; Mercury Verado power; non-skid around the entire perimeter for safe boarding; flexi-teak in the cockpit; GPS, VHF, Stereo, are just some of the features.
This is a boat with such class it raises the bar for Powerplay. The future of Powerplay should be considered very bright by many of you who own, have owned, and will own them. Tom will always do what he says, so look forward to what Tom and his son, Tommy will do with this company.

Not really passing judgement or anything, it might be a great boat and possibly what would keep a small company alive since the product would be at the reach of more people.
What gave Powerplay it's distinction amoungst such a great variety of builders was the attention to detail. If you look at the outside, sides of a powerplay boat they are straight. Ask any painter, graphics guy, because they love that about the brand. If they have that attention to detail and are building on Powerplay molds then best of luck. I fully support them...

It was a great little boat but needed more r&d. From what I understand Tom Mason had built a second one for himself in red. The hull design and looks were awesome it just needed an upgrade on some of the hardware that was installed. It would have been fine if it never went over 40mph but at 60 it needed HD rigging. Part of the problem was me because he wanted to make me a new boat with some changes and I insisted on takiing the one off the floor. I should have listened. If Tom ever starts to make these again and upgrades the hardware it should take off once the market changes. Im not so sure how interested he is in going full scale production though, I know the purchase of Power Play from Danny had alot to do with boat show points and the sale of Midnight Express. If he ever decides to produce them and does upgrade the hardware it will be a great boat. Tom was a pleasure to deal with and a perfect gentleman. I would def buy from him again he is a stand up business man.

I have to ask again is this a dead project (23 Powerplay)?? Is Tom Mason located in FL?
I am a Certified Mercury/MerCruiser Technician (of 14yrs) and have a lot of marine experience as well as high-performance rigging/racing experience. Working in the industry, and considering the lingering problem economy, I think we are going to see a resurgence of smaller more purpose built and reasonably priced boats. Boats other than the hundreds of 40mph cookie-cutter bowriders/cuddys made by the major boat-builders. It would be cool to see some semi-custom 22-25ft 'true' outboard performance boats built here in FL.
Thanks.....Jason
