my preference of all three, is the 38 PP. My opinion the 38 PP which is about 40' has a beter ride than the 42 Tiger, let alone the 38 Top Gun. I've been on 4 different 388 Slingshots, all with different power, great boat, but not at speeds above 92mph I personally didnt care for the one I was on at those speeds. Also being lighter is not as a good of a ride in the rougher stuff, above 4' footers, compared to the other boats. All great boats, for different purposes and price. You are right, too bad the 38's arent made any more. Jeff

The 38 Top Gun bottom hits a wall at around 110. The Hustler runs well up until about 90. The 38 Cig bottom I'd say is good until about low 100's. There's not many around that run 100+. I'd take the Cig over both boats personally. I dont see how the 38PP, a very nice boat, could ride better than a 42 Tiger though especially a 42X. From what I've heard the Cig customer service is only good if you go through Philly or just bought a brand new boat. I've had very good customer service with Hustler though. For a steady 100mph+ ride I wouldn't suggest any of the three. Now the newer 39 Cig's are another story. If your looking to run well at 100+ in a vee look at Outerlimits or get a cat. There are alot more of them running 100+ than all the others. If you dont need a cabin look at the Cig Gladiators or the Donzi ZR comp. You will get to 100 with less power and less coin, and you cant beat sitting down. Thats my .02

It kind of all depends on how much you want to spend.

Fountains shouldn't be in the equation. These are real boats the guy is looking at.

Answered my own question. It had to have been a regular Tiger by they only made one X with Bravos and it's here in CT. The only other bravo X's are triple boats.
