Mid 80's easy from what I have seen.

Back in the Old days these "S" Boats sometimes had better times than the open class boats.

Dave I have this picture up before,But the lamination is done with a magnum internal mixing pressure fed roller to our prescribed mekp percentage.

Funny thing when I brought that system in a long time ago Medina was there in the glass shop and another glass Foreman Louis they both threatened to walk when they saw the machine..

WOW They meant it I!!! and I had visions of standing alone there and explaining "Whys"to the Danny "why" nothing was being done and "why" I personally drove his glass crew off..

A think Quick :I said guys you know me,for your friend Steve Please try this machine for an Hour if you do not like the new process, have a helper load it in my truck and it will be gone.

After 20 minutes you could not take that machine away from them without gunfire.

I setup a acetone recovery system as well another fight another story.

lol old habits die hard i guess. Why did they not want to use it, did they feel they would be replaced or some of them downsized? So you prefer a fed roller over a gun then as well?

What is the advantage with an internal mix system over external? i would have tought external would be the way to go but what the heck, i didnt think you could build boats without molds either

Again thanks for taking the time

The internal mix roller eliminated the Pile of used buckets and allowed more exact control over mekp initiation once they saw that their lives would be easer they were onboard 100% Plus when the valve was pulled shut that was the end of the resin usage.

The external while giving you a apparent cure it is "streaky" at best NASA could not align that MEKP spray to be 100% across and equal on the Gelcoat fan. I use a 4 pass build up horizontal then vertical then repeat.Down here in 95 Degree and better heat I spray the hull side to side in 4' panels the gelcoat was going off two panels back trying to catch us,we were around 1.75 - 2% with the cook production gelcoat.

So do the mixing before the spray tip!! now for lamination the roller offers the best of the two worlds in wet out, One the crew does not have stop and get back from the gun and second the guy on the roller does half the work for the crew, also back-wetting you get exactly enough down with the roller: Cons cleanup a couple gallons acetone on a big job.but I had a recovery system in place

Awesome thread, thanks for taking the time!

As an owner of a 28 single, I can't recall seeing another out there! I have heard 3-4 built were singles.

Mine is a 96 that I believe was originally to be a race boat, and has a 99 HP500 and over the rub-rail exhaust. It has blue checker paint, if you know any of the history of this boat I'd love to hear it!

Anyone in Southeast MI knows how crappy last summer was and the lake was always rough, boat handled it pretty damn well. I was out on days when there was no one else in sight (taking it real slow though).

Jeff, Pat has the 38 outboard at PMT with trip 300 Verados. Runs upper 70's (guessing that means 77-78). He rerigged from 250xs to 275 verado to 300 verado. He should have a good guess on speed, but I agree with 82-83 based on the 300 speeds. I'll bet a 300xs boat is faster than 350's though.
