Thank you for the reply good read, Does anyone else have further history on the Cobra 32 / 33 Powerplay mine is a 81 and currently being restored should have it back on the water in a month. Just curious as to it's history and value.

OK and a 35 Fountain with staggered 525's runs 105.....The point is yes they were awesome (and still are) boats but to be competitive in 2010 the boat needs to be updated. Efficiency = speed and more importantly today fuel economy!
Honestly, try running a Fountain in rough water....that "105" will turn into "45" .......I SEE IT EVERYTIME OUT HERE IN THE PACIFIC. I'm not so sure that Powerplay's need steps, if the 33 was still being built maybe new construction techniques (YES) but maybe not on the steps for the handling benefit. I can tell you COUNTLESS times were were running boats to Catalina Island and people in Fountains were getting beat to hell in 3'-6' swells. The Powerplays, Cigarettes, Apaches, LS Scarabs would hammer down through it. Let's be REAL, how long does anyone run at full throttle???? (maybe if your boat runs like 65mph, then most likely you run f/t alot more. .....but faster boats, NOT, especially in rougher water. |

It really depends on what type of water you are running your boat in. The lake, yeah.....top speed may matter to you and Fountains are fast! (I really enjoyed watching "Cat Killer" outrun fast cats!!) But when running out in rough water, like the Pacific, top speed is kinda irrelevant. The question here is how fast can your boat run SAFELY and comfortably for the passengers in the rougher water. If you have a fast boat, but you get beat up in semi-rough water, that is NOT fun, it sucks, we all have been there.

For me, top speed numbers are for lake/river runners anyway, this is offshore only and it's in the slop where I measure a boat's abilities. |
Welcome back BTW

Considering how many 33’s are in the islands is quite telling, IMO. |

Question for Steve1 - I noticed that the 33 Powerplay "Hot Property" has 2 deck hatches that are side by side, and a rail going down the center. ALL other 33 PP's (Ive seen) have 2 hatches that are side by side. Was this a one off boat?

Indy wanted to let you know your Powerplay is still looking and running awesome. What a great boat I can say this as FACT: I ran the boat in Long Island Sound, a wonder body of water for boating. Slop is usually not a problem, 2's - 3's normal, typical dog days during high summer like glass, but gets riled up easily with 4's and bigger once in a while, nothing bigger than that with the exception of storms then all hell breaks loose and nobody wants to be out in it then anyway so it really doesn't matter. The boat in my years running it NEVER rattled, shuddered, got out of shape or knocked us around. It wasn't as fast as a Fountain 35 525 which has on a number of occasions broken the sound barrier with no modifications full of people and fuel but it didn't matter one bit to me. The ride was always predictable, comfortable, and it really didn't come into it's own until there was some slop. Combine that with timeless looks the boats are winners. Miss mine very much but glad I had a chance to own my dream boat (yes, PP's were and are my dream boats!!). |

t see that in the financial future lol. I'll probably get a cruiser type so I can lay down and relax, fridge, etc. I wouldn't want any other performance boat, or I would just keep mine. It is awesome and rides so amazing thru the rough stuff. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...9f36a37ea2.jpg |

Indy, I’m not sure if this is directly related to how each commenter posted pics or how OSO does it, but I have a feeling that info is elsewhere on OSO. |

Danny Never Built 300 boats
Danny NEVER built 300 boats including rubber duckies in the bathtub. Immediately after chosing the name which I voted against when we were spitballing names in his house prior to his coke arrest, the house he lost east of Bayview I think on NE 35 street he was in the center of a copyright lawsuit with the Michigan state boat company that already owned the name. That was from day 1, started bad, ended worse.
