Steve. Would like your thoughts on the 2 speed ZR trannys vs the single speed I am running with. NT seems not to be a fan of the 2 speed but never got too deep into conversation w Trond about it.

Up in the corners by the cutting flange we placed a stud on each side, when it was in the Trunnions and rotated a old 19" race tiebar held it vertical ,one guy could rotate it that was the Dannys rule on the balance.

Hey pal, what did I tell ya ??
Fabulous stuff !!!! Thanks for all of this. |
Another of the 38 Mold, the two front castor's we placed them inboard close together to kinda use the tripod effect so if it was on uneven floor or parking lot in this case the torsional stress would be less.

Thank you for the nice reply, OSO is keeping this thread on target and I just want to show some pictures and do a little talking about what I saw.
I know how much time it takes getting this many photos into a thread, and your time here is very much appreciated. Unlike me, you actually have a real job to deal with as well. :lolhit: When do you sleep??? I'm hoping that your threads will inspire other guys in the biz to contribute some of their own experiences as well. It's a fascinating part of offshore history. Thanks again for taking the time. :drink: |

Oliver also built one of the early 38's. He built the black hull one that later became the OSO boat, then Fastfinance.com and then "the submarine" |

Steve great thread!
A little more 38 history. One hull was used in the development of the Sunsation F4. They staggered the power, added a swim platform and stretched the nose for the extra 5 ft. (43 vs. 38). Another hull was used to inspire the Joker/Epic 41 CC that Brian is building. |

I couldn't tell if that NY show boat was black or navy blue. The blue 38 Nick built and took back to CA/NV area has about 100 hours on the hull and is ready for a museum it is so perfect/clean. He pulled the 525/XR combo and re-rigged it with 700/NXT combo. Boat runs 100 and they were still playing with props.

Another 38'.
Steve - can you explain the bottom design a little bit on the 38'. |
The 38 Hull mold I have more Pictures that was sprayed up around midnight if memory serves with clear tooling gelcoat then in the morning with a color backup,We went @10 Oz of Glass then bagged 3/4" Full sheets of Corecell and finished with a balanced lamination,
Danny was worried about marks from the supporting pipe work ,so we placed strips of foam core in adhesive where the pipe was to be glassed on ,that way the pipe was glassed to the foam "Pads" not the mold shell itself. http://i45.tinypic.com/2jbma9z.jpg |
I know this has been asked before and answered before but where are the newer 33 molds at ?

Steve - can you explain the bottom design a little bit on the 38'. When we ran the Plug his Idea was to set attitude and release the bottom , it ran very well with like no power also there were a couple extra strakes also that never made it to the finial plug stage. http://i48.tinypic.com/2hwnssp.jpg |
