XPRESS 33PP 05-21-2010 08:02 AM

Steve could you share some of the racing history of Powerplay. I know Dan raced before he built his own boats, but how well did he do in his own Powerplays

Thanks Ken

Danny is in the APBA hall of fame and won the "B" Class national title and the gold cup in a 33 Powerplay raceboat that one of the OSO members on here own today. There are pictures of his two "S" boats at the beginning of the thread that was a wild class in those days, the same as an open boat but with small blocks 750 CI limit. also do not forget Reggie ran "B" class when Danny won it.

gettin my props back from BBlades next week. So far with 550hp a side running through trannys and #4's she runs right around 87mph. Not bad for a nonstep pleasure boat with the reliability of the speedmasters. Hoping to get to the 90mph mark with her this year when I get my props back. Also, my drives are to deep and I can go up about 2-3 inches with them which will give me some more mph, but that is a winter project, not something to start messing with right now. i also love how deep the cockpit is in my boat when I compare to all the other 33PP's. I think that is the one knock people have about these boats, but mine doesnt fit the stereotype.

Great thread Steve 1.....keep it coming please!

Awesome thread!

Do you have any cabin pictures of the 25, 28, and 33?

delsol 05-21-2010 10:19 AM

Thanks for the answers on the set up for sixes Steve. So the way I understand it you would move the bulkhead forward to make room for the 6's, meaning that a normal bravo setup wouldn't be able to drop in a #6 set up with glass mods...

Do you have any pics of the 38' arneson boat from in the engine compartment?

Thanks, Dave

We from the first boat had #6's in mind. I had a gauge cut too set the step riser with. I will post more Diesel Pictures ,that is my favorite boat.

my Gen Mgr owned the Smokin' 33 and another 33 outboard recently and i'm pretty fond of the single 28's and 25 outboards, in fact I came within a hairs breath of buying both the 33 open/500 boat 2 years ago in Pompano and the 25/twin 300 outboard open boat in Miami myself.. should have really bought that 33...

Yes and that way they would have been maintained by yourself,The 25 Outboards have a cult following ,one member Powerplay 25 has a nice boat as does his friend who bought Dannys personal 25 outboard sportdeck, cool boat and easy for one guy to take care of. as I recall there were 12- 28's built and the singles not many a rare boat.

I disagree. I bought my 33' because it didn't have steps. JROMY's boat had 525s in it and it ran 88 bone stock with no dialing in what-so-ever. That boat was rigged at John Tomlinson's, not PowerPlay and wasn't dialed in at all. I'm sure with some tuning it would have hit 90+ without much effort. It was one of the only if not the only 33 with sporty shorties and PowerPlay hadn't performed a set-up on it yet. Steve1, please correct me if I'm wrong but I know JROMY and his boat well. Plus it's going to do well in the slop, these aren't lake boats. My hull didn't come to life unless it was choppy out. If someone smokes me in the flat I could care less, I bought it for it's rough water performance and predictable handling.

I believe Ozzies boat also had shorties in it when it had the big motors.

Steve 1 05-21-2010 11:50 AM

Jeremys boat from what I was told by Danny when he ran it down at Crandon with shorties and 5 blades , he said 92,a Beautiful 33 Powerplay.
