Sandy victim?

northernoffshore 03-08-2016 07:59 AM

I asked a question to them.... does it have engines?? .. there response was
' can't open the hatch".. so buyer beware on this one

Wally 03-08-2016 08:01 AM

Yeah...no keys and no trailer either??? wonder if they have the title?

Keytime 03-08-2016 09:30 AM

Somebody knows.

Repo? http://www.tcar-recovery.com/

Everything in sight looks to be present and accounted for. Could be a good sign. Seems many boats that are ditched and parted out don't have drives attached, but ya never know. Thinking out loud.

Perhaps the trailer isn't part of a repo or they're gonna squeeze a few more bucks out by offering it separately after the sale. Again, more speculation.

Wally 03-08-2016 09:58 AM

Ya...could have missing motors too since they have no keys and cant open the hatch's! :(

Keytime 03-08-2016 10:00 AM

Entirely possible. Buy the hull and drives and consider engines a bonus.

SB 03-08-2016 10:43 AM

Since when did no keys stop anyone. It's a boat . Easy enough.

Wally 03-08-2016 11:03 AM

Thats true...but them being a repo company you would think hot wiring it just to open the hatches to show the engines would be easy enough to do for them.....

Prob dead battery too and more work then they feel like going through.

I can't get some folks to open the hatch to a boat that has keys and is at a car lot with a repair facility on site (just dead batts) cause the people have "other things to do". I am sure that if this boat is at a recovery place they just don't care to much more than just sell it and recover their money.

northernoffshore 03-08-2016 11:17 AM

someone on oso knows this boat..... and what happened to it for it to get reposess

Wasted Income 03-08-2016 12:26 PM

So maybe this is just too obvious...but couldn't you just peek in the side vents with a flashlight to see if there were engines present?

Wally 03-08-2016 01:12 PM

Update: i got a reply from them that they do have a clear title for the boat :D

chefke 03-08-2016 04:31 PM

Yep I have one from a powerplay will fit right under it. Aluminum Myco trailer

onesickpantera 03-08-2016 05:21 PM

They "don't know" if it has engines? That is crazy! It takes a couple minutes to use a jump box and open a hatch.

northernoffshore 03-08-2016 05:40 PM

it will probably be bid up high then relisted for nonpayment,,, IMO

This one ?

Here is the message that has just been posted:
***************
The boat was damaged lightly during Sandy, a couple of scratch and gouges, that were touched up crudely Nothing that bad.
The boat went threw a winter with just a cockpit cover that was worn and did'nt hold out water, the drain in the back of the boat got blocked with ice and water built up in the hull, freeing and rupturing the left side fuel tank (it has a fiberglass inner liner above the tank-has to be cut to access.)
The boat couldn't be used with one tank, they are mounted port and starboard. Very unbalanced.
The boat stunk like fuel.
The estimate was very high to replace the tank, the boat sat and was NOT winterized the next year, both engines are freeze cracked.

Misleading, perhaps?

I'm thinking this is the boat back in happier days.

315duramax 03-10-2016 10:43 PM

anyone know what price they are looking to get

waycool marine 03-11-2016 07:47 AM

they told me the lender doesn't want to spend any money on it so they are not going to try to open the hatch. and would not tell me the reserve. sounds real fishy as opening the hatch is real easy in 1 of the pics is a jump box , if they don't know how and are reading this go to the dash board ,switch or fuse and power up the hatch . with the jump box in the pic they probably did that and don't want to divulge what is there

The leaking fuel from one of the gas tanks ?

Actually, maybe that is why none of them want to raise the hatch. Fear of going boom !

Hmmmm.

Wally 03-11-2016 11:36 AM

So lets re-cap:
1 repoed boat
No trailer included
No keys available
running condition unknown.
Cant raise hatch to verify there are any engines in there
Possibly two cracked blocks from not being winterized properly if there are engines in there
Potentially leaking fuel tank
Is a hurricane Sandy "survivor"
and $23k price tag

If this was on craigslist we could add it to the craigslist gold thread! :D

SB 03-11-2016 11:41 AM

They updated the ad yesterday to say if you look in vents you can see both engines are there.

On Mar-10-16 at 13:49:39 PST, seller added the following information:
We are unable to get the engine hatch open but you can see motors in the unit through the side vents.

Hey alright!! lol.

fullthrottle-offshore 03-11-2016 05:52 PM

Am I the only one that noticed the pictures in the e-bay listing... in the picture of the right front of the boat notice the registration sticker it is 2010, was'nt Sandy 2011?
And look at the picture of the back of the boat, The drain plug is in? At the end of the winter? hmmm

Bingo!
And if the plugs still in, you can assume entire interior is toast. Including hdwe.

Plus, who would advertise this w/o jumping the batteries to open the hatch??
You really don't know if it even has motors??

Be scared, be very, very scared ;)

MDGperformance 03-12-2016 10:12 AM

I sold that boat to a guy in newyork about ten years ago at the time it had 502mags ran real nice and was a super clean boat, they will never get 23k for it if it needs new tanks engines and interior

Keytime 03-15-2016 11:54 AM

Reserve not met. Imagine that.

Resume sitting in weather.
