I have a 1997 with the 454 mag (385hp) and have the stock mirage 3 blade and was considering going 4 blade. My best speed is 63 gps 67 speedo at 5100 rpm but normally run right around 60 depending on current and wind chop etc. Pleas let me know what differences the 4 over the 3 blade.

PQConquest, that is the boat. I have family in Grand Haven and we were visiting. I was in the market for a PQ and happened accross that one. We love it so far. I was questioning the Volvo set-up, since everybody and there dog has a Merc. but I have heard a lot of good things about Volvo.

The 3 blade is a Mirage "PLUS" 21p and the 4 blade is a Revolution 21p.

I think I looked at your boat in the fall when I was looking at mine up in Michigan. Was that the boat originally owned by someone at Powerquest? Had low hours, mint condition and Volvo set-up.

270Laser, That would be the boat. I looked at it the day the dealer in Grand Haven got it. He said it was for sale at another dealer prior and it was someone from the factory that owned it. Very sweet ride!! I stopped in a looked it over on my way to sea trial the 26 I bought up in Muskegon.
I've heard nothing but good from the locals on the Volvo drive. Only down is most are looking for a merc. But as always price will sell anything!

This is our first performance boat, I didn't realize that Volvo's were so hard to find in such a boat. Everyone I have spoke with speaks highly of them, I hope I didn't make a mistake not going with Merc?!! Any thought?

They are very popular in Europe. My dad has one on his cruiser and hasn't had any problems. I think people are just use to seeing merc's in performance boats. Volvo makes a high quality setup. I don't think you made a mistake. It might be a tad harder to sell than a merc. but it will hold up the same as a merc with your powerplant. I'd be interested to see what your performance numbers are with the dual prop setup compared to the merc single prop.

I was told that I may lose a couple of MPH with the Duo Prop set-up. But to date I have not been able to get a GPS reading. Speedo is reading 64-66mph with two people and 3/4 tank. My GPS is scheduled to be at my door from Fed-Ex tomarrow.

The only problem is that I just found water in my out drive lube tonight. Not to happy about that one. Hopefully the dealer will get it in ASAP to see what is wrong.

When I bought it I had the out drive serviced and everything was reported to be o.k. I am going to speak with them too, it has only been two months since then and I haven't ran it too hard at all. I will let you know what I hear.

Fast Forward

I bought mine about the same time and was told everything was serviced and ready to. Bad thing is I just don't trust anyone anymore. I drained the drive last week and all was good, oil was new. For a couple bucks I'd rather have the piece of mind seeing for myself. Just like what you found,you just never know and that can put an end to a great summer real quck. Let us know what the dealer says.
