Re: Powerquest Factory
From what I'm to understand the employee's were layed off and were aware of the situation. A few have already been called back and are laying up a few hulls as of a couple weeks ago. Being the current job market is not the greatest and the pay was fairly good, one would think they would wait it out a bit. I'm sure once there back in full production things will get back to normal pretty fast as well as improve. As far as PQ quality? They hold there own with the best of them! Dollar for dollar a great value as well as product. They are no different than anyone else out there as far as trying to cut cost and options to keep the base price down. As goes with everything now days if you want all the extras there available, you just have to pay for them. I'm on my 2nd Powerquest and plan on a 3rd. We own a 97 Legend and most people that look at swear its new. Not a mark or stress crack to be found. That alone is pretty rare.
I'm sure one their back up and running we'll get the whole story as to the how and why. |
Re: Powerquest Factory
That will be great if they can re-staff with their workers. Hope they are successful getting back up and running.
|
Re: Powerquest Factory
Any more info about PQ ?
|
Re: Powerquest Factory
I've heard they are working on a few boats, but working on limited hours. The sale has yet to close from what I'm to understand, but should be soon.
|
Re: Powerquest Factory
Sent an e-mail to PQ yesterday and it was picked up but no response yet. However, I can't get any response to calls or voice mail.

Re: Powerquest Factory
I hope they’re successful in bringing themselves back to their glory days, no doubt they’re an asset to the marine industry.

Hello Pause,
Going well, certianly enjoying the time. Hope all is very well with you ! |
Re: Powerquest Factory
Dave it is good to hear someone from another co. say something nice like that. I agree with you hopefully they will pull through stronger then ever.
|
Re: Powerquest Factory
powerquest is amazing.....they are one of the best performing boats out there. i own a 260 legend and i take it in the bay and it handles 3 foot waves like nothing at 40 mph....
one thing that i have noticed is that they haven't updated their site in like 2 years.... everytime i go there its aways saying that they are in the process of changing.. it would be horrible if the company can't rebound |

Re: Powerquest Factory
Macklin & Powerquest,
I've always been a fan of PQ. As far as the Sunsation part goes, we have parted ways. I've been gone from Sunsation for a couple weeks now. After 8 years our individual goals were growing apart and it was best for us to take different paths. It was a great run with them and as with Powerquest, they're also a great asset to the marine industry. I know both company's will always have success. David |
Re: Powerquest Factory
David
Take over PowerQuest  |

Re: Powerquest Factory
Boatnt, hp500,
I haven't made a decision yet as to what's next, I'm actually enjoying some time away from the business and spending it with my family forthe first time in many many years. I'm not sure what or where Powerquest is at other than they sold and are working towards bringing things back. Being we're both in Michigan it is something to ponder on :) |
Re: Powerquest Factory
will you actually think about taking PQ over or helping them?
|
Re: Powerquest Factory
34PQ,
I would not consider "taking them over", possibly helping them out doing what I do. I can be reached at for futher discussion, this probably isn't the proper platform for this. Interesting thought though :-) |
Re: Powerquest Factory
With the right people PQ can give any boat builder a run for their money!
They have Great Molds, all they need to do is put the Quality back in the boats. People dont mind spending more,as long as they sre getting something for it. Look at Sunsations they are not cheap boats but people buy them because of the Quality. David It would be great to see your avatar have the PQ logo  |
Re: Powerquest Factory
Boatnt,
Boy would that be different.... I do have to come up with a new avatar. You said alot with your post, the one thing I always strived for was being the "right person" and have the other "right people" taking care of customers and dealers and there needs. It's the customers and dealers that's always #1, if you don't have customers then you don't have a successful operation. As you mention, PQ absolutly can run with the best with the products they have with a little tweaking. |

Re: Powerquest Factory
Hey Pause,
I'll always have time, and as I said before a bet's a bet and if I lose I'm good to pay up ! Double or nothing on the Lions vs the Bears for the division title........... I see where the first part of your username comes from "______pause" :-) Stay well Buddy |
Re: Powerquest Factory
Let's see??   Dave leaves Sunsation at the same time the new owners of PQ are ready to take over?
As for the bet. How the heck do the bears keep winning??? Should have been a 500 year at best. By the way have any of you guys seen the new show on OLN on Sunday nights with the Ultra Powerboat Company doing a knock-off the Orange County Choopers Show?? Talk about a staged show!!! |

Two Keys 1. They are playing great defense 2. They got to play the Lions twice already :evilb: :evilb: |
Re: Powerquest Factory
I'll agree on the big "D". Now if they could add some Manning they'd really have a team.
It's good to see the Bears with a decent team again. By the way whats the E.T.A on that new boat? |
Re: Powerquest Factory
Pause & Fast,
They're thowing out this years defense might be as good as the 95 Bears, I don't know about that but they are good. As yes we do just about give the opposing coach's a free W these days except for Thanksgiving Day, the Lions always seem to play well on Turkey Day. Don't ask cause I won't bet on this years Lions on any game :-) Fast, Tried to email PQ yesterday but emails were returned undeliverable - go figure that. I'm sure they're scrambling over there if there are new owners, everything I've heard/read is speculation and no official post have come from the factory that I know of. Nontheless I wish them well. Hope you all have great Thanksgivings. |

My best guess is the first boat will start in January, and be ready in the spring. Considering when this project started, it is getting very close now. At least it seems that way to me. Patience will prove to be a virtue - this is going to be one outstanding boat. Oh, BTW, it won't be at Miami so a special friend of mine will be getting some blisters while he details the boat, but he gets to take a break every 15 to 20 minutes to fetch beers for me while I do nothing! :evilb: :evilb: |
Re: Powerquest Factory
Hey John,
I sure do, hopefully mother nature will be little kinder to you this year. Miami won't be same without you pal :D |

Re: Powerquest Factory
Pause,
I was bustin your chops bout Miami, it'd be much nicer there than working on someones "boat" :D But you never know about Miami, depends on what I'm doing. Triman, Thanks for the wishes and comments, hope you find a 288 that fits the bill for you, no doubt they're a classy boat. Was great meeting you as well and I/m sure our path's will cross again. Yeah we were a great team but it was best for us to go our own ways, all good things come to an end sooner or later. Stay Well & Sunsational ! Hey Jeff, Thanks as well, It'll be a great move whatever it is I go into that's for sure. And thanks again for your help with MP at the rally's, that's an awesome event for sure. If it works, I always love going to Maimi and where there's a will there's a way :-) I'm sure we'll meet again ! ! Hope you all have a great holiday |

It was a pleasure helping you and Sunsation out at the rally over the years. Best of luck in your next endeavor. Hopefully you'll remain in the boating industry and our paths will cross again. Not sure MP can take another Miami outing unless it is factory sponsored. The bar tabs at Finnegan's Way were a killer! So were the Captain and Cokes!! :drink: :drink:
Jeff Good thing we stayed there late every nite. Made us forget about that dive hotel we had to go back to which served the 3 oz captain and cokes for twice the price. |
Re: Powerquest Factory
I drive by every day on the way to work.
For a couple of years now the crew has been getting smaller and smaller judging by the number of cars in the parking lot. The last couple of months the factory crew has been there on and off. Office staff appeared to be there on a regular basis. A couple of weeks ago - no cars at all and a sign on the door that says something like "all meetings for this week need to be arranged". It's pretty sad when compared with how busy the place was 5 years ago. Marc[/Q Its Thanksgiving !! And the once PQ EMPLOYEES who once enjoyed the holiday are still wondering if they ever will return to the line and build boats again. |
Re: Powerquest Factory
Someone posted they sent an e-mail and it bounced back. I sent today to the factory and it went through. Sure hope some good word comes from the plant soon. I have the feeling the potential new owners have yet to close .
|
Re: Powerquest Factory
Sorry, I stand corrected! The e-mail I sent to PQ came back this morning.
|
Re: Powerquest Factory
That's for sure on the late nights. One has to wonder if they'll even be at the shows this year. There's a lot of people that are unaware as to whats going on at PQ. And if they have PQ in the running as a choice for a new boat and they fail to show up at the shows it could be a big loss in income once those potential buyers here the news.
