That's not what I wanted to hear. I wonder if pouring mineral spirits or some type of mild solvent would lossen up the glue?
Macklin.. I ordered more than needed to do my job, I'f I have enough left it's yours if youd like.

Can you believe this: the dealer (consignment) that I bought the boat from kept the money that key bank wired to him and still hasnt paid the owner for the boat!!! The dealer kept telling me that the titles were lost and needed to be reissued..He kept telling the owner that the boat hadnt sold--I only bought the boat 130 days ago. I finally got sick and tired of the delays and called the owner myself--what a shock when we discovered the truth..The dealer has promised to come up with the money (He's got one more week or both the owner and myself go to the police)...Im supposed to be flying out to Chicago this Thursday to get the boat but if the owner hasnt been paid it could be a huge waste of time...
We'll see..Ill keep you posted.

We had a situtaion like that with a local dealer here a few years ago. One of which is serving a few years in the state pen.. Hope all goes well!!! Hard to believe that someone thinks they could get away with it.

When and if you get your Powerquest, I suggest you invest in the tabs. Especially if you run in any rough, or around any amount of boat traffic. My 2000 260 with a Mirage Plus 23P prop, WOT and trimmed out as far as I could would chine walk real bad. Bad enough to toss the girlfriend around the cockpit. A fellow boater gave me a tip that never cost me a bit of speed, but really stabilized the boat. I click down the tabs just a little bit (about 1/4" or so), just enough ti light up the first light on the tab gauge, and the boat is stable as can be. Being a true V hull with no pad, it walks real easy at higher speeds, and can be a real handful to save. Enjoy your new to your ride, I LOVE my Powerquest!

Brian--The dealer in question is a "local deal" at least local to the Chicago area..He's promised to pay the owner by friday and Im planning on picking the boat up on Saturday..No money will equal police and jail--I can guarantee you that..
DTS--thanks for the advise on the tabs..Im considering going with Bennett Trim tabs. I do like the control tabs give you and do not want to chine walk..
Ill post the results of what happened with my boat when I return from Chicago.

Congrats on the new PQ! We bought a '94 257 Legend last winter and are really enjoying it. Rides nice, lots of space for a 26 footer, crashes cruiser wakes with ease, and runs flawlessly(carbed 454 Mag with 500 hours). Thing is built like a tank! It sounds like you're getting a lot of boat for the money. We ended up paying a few more G's for ours with more hours on it so your deal sounds great. Hope you have as much fun your first season as we did!

Congrat PQ baby!!! Hope it works out for ya with your dealer.... I got a '96 270 laser w/ 502efi on ebay the first of January. Same as you, I hadn't seen the boat, just pics. Luckily it was a one owner and was babied, not a scratch on it. I picked it up, brought it home to storage and have only seen it once since. Needles to say I'm a little ansy. Its my first PQ and I cant wait to splash it. Good Luck!!

Back from Chicago!!! Ended up having a good ending to my story--Picked up the boat on Saturday morning and everything went as planned (owner got his money and I finally got my PQ)..The Legend is close to perfect (thank god!!) and I couldnt be happier..Towed it back across the country and am going to clean her up tomorrow and splash her on Friday (its supposed to be 70 degrees and mostly sunny in Seattle!!!)..My best friend who owns a Nordic Heat came over today to see the Legend and cannot believe what an awesome boat it is (especially for the money)...
Here's a couple pics taken in the Badlands of South Dakota on the way back.

Hot - hot - hot.
I got it on Ebay for 25k. Couldn't believe it... I was the only person who bid on it for a 10 day auction. It has 373 hours on it. An older guy bought it new and really took care of it. It looks perfect inside and out. What engine and speeds have you hit in your '99??
PQ baby.
Glad it worked out for ya. Let us know how it goes when you drop it in the water. I'm in Kalamazoo, Michigan and its snowing. Supposed to be below freezing for a week. Gonna be a while before we can put ours in.
