I hear they are ramping up to start making matresses at the end of the first quarter. You do realize it is a matress factory now, don't you?! :D :evilb:

Come on guys, how about some real news. Any one driven by the place recentlly?
|
I talked to the factory today. They are working on retooling some things and coming up with a different laminating process as we speak....along with all the new pricing and guidelines. Looks like they will be focusing on the 28's and up!!! Dont think it will be much longer before you see new product rolling out of the factory:D

Thats great news!! However it seems odd that they would drop the number one seller PQ had the 26 Legend (still in production).. But than again maybe the number one seller was also a low profit boat.

I was in GR today to pick up a new kayak at the fishing show. I had planned on stopping by PQ on the way home to see what was up but ran out of time. Has anyone else had an opportunity to swing by???
So GG what are you referring to when you mentioned a wider lip?? |
I was out in Holland Friday visiting a customer so I stopped by the PQ office around 4pm to see what was going on. Both Phil Hall and Mark Bosteman were there. I talked to Mark (who’s in charge of sales) for a little while and basically as stated before they are working on retooling and a new infusion / vacuum bagged lamination process for future boats similar to what Outerlimits uses which would strengthen and lighten the hauls as much as 2k lbs. Also, looking at putting some bigger power in the boats. Mark referenced he worked at Skater for awhile and raced Cat Can Do of Baker Engineering. Stated Phil is an engineer and had helped build some of Reggie Fountain’s race boats. They want to focus on the 38 Avenger & 32 SC, basically the boats with more margins. PQ also wants to market in bigger cities nationally. Again, working on pricing which I expect will go up quite a bit. It definitely sounded like they want to take PQ to the next level.
I told Mark everyone on OSO was anxious to hear a formal announcement either on OSO or their website. Good Luck to PQ for great things to come! |
Not to rush anything, but if all goes well we might see a 42-43 footer with more performance and creature comfort than the Avenger some day!

Little surprised the 34 has not in mix. I would think the 26,30,34 & 38 would be a great offering list. I never understood why they had a 22,23 & 24, Seems one of those models would have covered all 3. I will say the 38 if by far the best looking in the line up. What ever they do I'm simply glad to see the local PQ back up and running.

Any new updates on this?
I'm surprised that no one from the factory has published an official announcement that they are open for business (maybe they aren't ready to build yet?) There are 5-10 cars there every morning when I drive by so they must be doing something in there. I've read the previous posts on this thread as to what they are planning to do but wonder why they wouldn't start building the boats the way they are currently tooled and then work on changes once there is an operational business with some cash flow. A very interesting strategy... |
New air intakes on the 380
Talk to the factory yesterday. They are still cleaning up the molds. They told me that they are going to redesign the air intakes on the top mold deck on the 380. This should help with performance. Said they will be coming out with 2008 models by July.
