Default top speed 280 silencer??

just got my PQ 280 home on friday -- really am enjoying the boat!! very nicely done. I am a little dissapointed on the factory wiring -- but all in all good.

what prop are you guy's running? i've got a 502mag -- spinning a 4 blad 24p (can't recall the make)

i'm missing being in the 70's -- so i'm already contemplating a procharger.

Have any of you done this?

mine has the latham add on steering -- i'm considering full hydraulic

is the hull a good ride at 75-78 mph?

what do you think?

thanks!

Mark

I have had mine to 69.5 gps, the previous owner saw 70.1, with my new motor I hope to be at 70-71.

I have a 502 mag, Gil Exhaust, K&N filter, reflashed ecu, labbed 26P Bravo, the previous owner also put a 1" drive spacer to lower the X dimension, I dont know if my boat was wrong from the factory or all 28's were too high but he picked up a couple mph after the spacer was added.

I installed, 16" tabs to try and help with the chine walking, the boat definitely chine walks at 67-68 or so, I have a single ram hydraulic steering , I think Bob280Silencer is running 75 or so,

So how is the chine walk at 68-75mph? Does it get worse or does it go away? Do longer tabs cure it , hydraulic steering, 4 blade props??? Powerquest is a great boat but why do these boats all have chine walk? After having some seat time i have been able to control it better. I have noticed a little more tab down will help but with insta trim 12x12 tabs i feel that i'm wasting my time and should upgrade to a k-plane. I have a 99 Enticer 69 mph gps i can say it chine walks anywhere from 62-69 (no hydraulic steering). Looking for a cure besides slowing down.

mine has k-planes -- not sure if that makes a big difference or not. I don't chine walk much at all -- unless i get the drive way out of the water -- at about 2 or 3 on the indicator mine is pretty smoot at about 68mph.

NOT RIGHT -- what motor are you putting in? hp?

I put a 502 back in it, roller rockers are the only HP upgrade, other than that stock, not trying to through more money at this boat than I have too,

I didnt really get a chance to test my 16" tabs this year due to motor issues, I should be back in action this week so I'll let you know.

I cant tell you how it handled at 75, I havent been there,

I had a 28 with a Bravo one and imco steering. Hydraulic steering helps but the bennet tabs should be replaced with the 280k planes. Little can be done about the chine walking. It is a short hull with a step in the bottom. Boat is only capable of so much. Try not to over trim. Great boat with lots of space. I enjoyed mine.

RAF, You mentioned about "over trimming". I have a 300 Revenge. At speed, I have the tabs all the up and the motors at about 2-3. What is an indication of over trim? I have always adjusted the tabs and motors for max rpm but we have some what I would call serious chine walk at 75+ mph.

Thanks for any help or advice.
