Yes,It was a 260. High freeboard and heavy...All boils down to what kind of boating you like to do. The best I ever saw on my happy speedo was 62 or 63 in the PQ. Same conditions with the sunny were close to 70 on GPS. I would say that is pretty close to a 10MPH difference. The funny part is my wife does't like to bounce...wants a more stable ride. She likes the Sunny hands down over the PQ!

I wanted a boat that would run high 70's-80. Bought a raylar kit and was gonna install on the PQ until research told me it would be a waste and I might see high 60's to low 70's. Needless to say a little more research ended up placing me in my 288 and it is now happy with the Raylar kit,CMI headers,and a whipple flash on the ECM sitting under the hatch! :D

Keep in mind most of my boating is done on more glassy lake conditions as we rarely get the type of chop here to let a hull break loss and fly so to speak like you big lake guys do.

By your numbers id say you had a healthy 496HO which should do 67 in a legend or maybe better... you were improperly propped or something, the numbers are off. A local guy is selling his 260 496HO claiming 70 w labbed prop. As far as ride goes u must live on mars any similarly sized PQ will run smoother than a baby's ass compared to a sunsation.

260s are heavy deep V boats where the 288 has a big pad on the bottom thats why you have more speed,less drag and you ride on top of the water not in it,theres always a give and take kind of thing,you gave up good ride in the rough and settled for af faster ride in smooth water.

Don't get me wrong..the PQ was a very nice,well built boat. I suspect to get those numbers a 260 would have to be in a pretty good chop where the sunny didn't need it as much to get up and go. This would explain my speed differences. The guy(boat was in Ohio on the great lakes) I bought my PQ from claimed he could run 70...I couldn't and believe me I kept the hammer down and tried various trim levels. The PQ was quite a bit more squirrelly than my Sunny at speeds above 60.

I must say that when crossing a good sized boat wake the sunny seems much smoother and more accomplished at it than my 260 was. Believe me my wife is a testiment to that! :D

:grinser010: I have never seen a non GPS speedo that wasn't happy! From my feel I would say I might have hit 60 but probably 59 in the PQ! I think I saw between 68+69 on my sunny(a GPS speedo). The recall from the previous owner pulled up a tadover 70.

Pachanga, the non gps speedo in my Silencer is 1 mph off of the gps believe it or not......pretty accurate.

My speedometer is pretty accurate with the gps as well.
