Will my truck pull a 32?
 

I have a F-150 FX4 stock and am wondering if I would be able to pull a 32ss with it. I am looking at the '07 and newer. I live in KC and boat locally and at Tablerock Lake. If I have to upgrade trucks, then I have to get an older (cheaper) boat.

This question comes up all the time. I'm sure on a triple axle trailer it will tow it just fine. But the issue is stopping. If the boat is loaded with fuel and gear and it's over the rated towing capacity and you were to get in an accident and someone was hurt you could find yourself in serious trouble. Do youself a favor and get a 3/4 ton truck.

Ah, good point, thanks. I have talked to some guys with 28-30 footers (not Sunnys) that have of 1/2 tons with airbags in the back that say that they just have to be careful with stopping. This 32 is quite the jump from my 21 footer. Stopping and Ozark hills are my concerns.

What is the weight of the 2006 or newer 32 and a triple axle? I read the 2006+ are another 1000# with the new design.

7100 is dry, no fuel/gear and a trailer will quickly add 2K pounds to the equation.

I pulled my old style 32 with a 1500 GMC once to the gas station and back. Truck was rated to tow 8500 lbs with the tow package/5.3 motor and the boat pushed the truck all over the road (flat ground, 3 miles each way). Needless to say I never did that again! :D

Doug, I can tell you that a half ton has no business in front of a 32 around here!
We have one at the marina I work at and it gives our 3/4 and one tons a work out.
Like the other guys have said the prob isnt pulling but the stopping and going around corners down here!
If ya do go with the half ton could you please let me know when ya come to the lake so I can keep my family off the road!

I pull a 06' 32' with a 3/4 ton and it pulls great but sometimes you get some sway in the rear. I would only go with a 3/4 or bigger the new F-450 are sweet.

Thanks guys, nuf said. I won't do it if it's not safe, especially since we boat as a family. I have 3 years to put this together, so adding a more stout truck to the mix will just change the plan a bit. I'm still saving for the 32ss MCOB, but I will have to lower the bar to a single engine and a later year, which is plenty for me I'm sure.

Why get the Dominator MCOB great riding boat I just bought a 06' MCOB with small blocks and love it! Great ride good on fuel and the price was right! They are the same just lower free board!

You could get into a gaser 3/4 truck you pretty cheap money. I would stick with at least a 32 dominator, you'll want to upgrade from the 288 pretty quickly. I made the mistake of buying 2 28' boats will I just would have stepped up to a twin then!!!!!

I pull my 290 PQ which is similar in weight with an 04 Yukon xl bone stock and 190,000 miles on it. No problems whatsoever just drive like a normal person and it will do just fine... some people like to overkill safety but your truck will have no problems with the boat

Guy I bought my 288 from pulls the 05 dominator he bought with a 08 gm half ton.8mpg pulling my boat with it and I'm sure less than that now with his dominator.

I wouldn't think ud need air bags since the boat motor is being the trailer axles and therefore keeping tongue weight to a minimum.

But the again Ford half tons are lame lmao.

I think you can get away with it if not for long distances. What is the big deal about braking? My rig stops faster with the trailer brakes. Remember not to tow in overdrive and go easy on the hills.

Yep Got to make sure the trailer brakes work,thats whats going to stop you.

I used to tow my 300 with my 1/2 ton Tahoe and now I tow it with my 3/4 ton Suburban ,cant really say its a night and day difference.

get a diesel so u can pull a whole nother truck plus a 42 fountain up a ramp with no assistance from the other truck, while it still having the ebrake engaged!

I bet the wet pavement was a factor:eek:. When all else fail, 8 wheel drive will work!

T.j.'s 4 wheel drive broke when he backed the trailer back in to get the mud off his drive guard when it stabbed into the ground. Funny pic tho

look at my 08 chevy duramax dually color red in the classifieds it will pull that boat all day long . Ireplaced it with a peterbilt pickup 4x4 that tows my 42 and my 30 and hopefully a 35 soon

After rescuing him off the ramp and footing a large portion of his gas bill for the day I coulda called him everything but a white man and his boat anything but a fountain. Windshields are for old men and women that wanna breast feed at 80 while sitting in bolster!

I wouldn't expect you to understand the logic of not getting blasted in the face with rain at top speed in the event the weather turns... then again I see your point, Miss Geico is after all a pretty sissy boat considering it goes one step further and even has a roof! The humanity!

Unlike Ur tired 454 mpi's. My 496 ho will hold a whipple all day.

Many have charged there 496 and the ones with blown motors dropped the ball on something important.

As for your blue motor fascination. I hardly see blue paint being worth that much

Lol the tired 454mpis keep up just fine even in the tanker 290, with a much nicer ride I might add...
As for the 496 unless supporting mode are made you will blow the motor and the drive shortly. I've read up on quite a few having problems with boost on the 496, but you can do what you would like I'm just breaking your balls... there will be plenty of room on the beast 290 when its is getting redone:drink:

what supporting mod do I need to run mild boost? Fancy red fuse rings like Ur boat has? Ls car motors hold 9lbs all across the nation. Y wouldn't my, according to u, "built to fail" 496 do that. Get real with urself

You can save the key commando for someone who doesn't actually know you... as for the motor ill bet you a grand that if u put over 5 lbs of boost to that motor you will be blowing it.
