38 with 525's

Anyone have a 38 Avenger with 525 efi's in it? If so what is your top speed......

boatnt 09-26-2010 03:22 PM

Alot faster than one with 500s

verbi69 09-26-2010 04:22 PM

:coolcowboy:

pq man 09-26-2010 07:25 PM

Funny like a clown here for your amusement:drink:

AJ POWERPLAY 09-26-2010 07:27 PM

Read a test of one with 575's and if I can remember right they got 86 out of it... low 82-84 sounds about right I would say depending on prop

pq man 09-26-2010 07:37 PM

The 38's couldn't handle the 525's so mercury couldn't authorize pq to put them in. The 525's are way to much power for you to handle they would only get you to the island faster which would mean even less running time for you.

inknppr 09-26-2010 08:57 PM

Could the Red Unit have one of your blue motors to use for his generator????:evilb:

The 38 PQ I've been in with 525SC's ran 78 - 79 MPH when I GPS'd it. Ran 76 - 77 MPH in the Shootout back in 2005.

on whos boat?

Knot 4 Me 09-28-2010 01:53 PM

I believe the owner said it has broke 80, but it did not do it when I was around. I believe he finally got it propped right and with the right water/air conditions and a light load, I have no doubt it ran 80 +.

inknppr 09-28-2010 03:25 PM

Hey Big Shooter how fast do you want to go???:evilb:

On my own. Send my boat back to the factory in 2000. Had the bottom blueprinted and 4' of the outside strakes remove. I probably got the faster 38 with 500efi's in it then most people would think. It is a strong 80mph boat with throttle left in it. I have a top speed on the gps tale-tail speedometer of 82mph. Anyone want to run me I will prove it. I have two strong blue motors that aren't afraid of running. Only thing in them is the mystery oil.

inknppr 09-28-2010 07:41 PM

Ya if he wants to go over 80MPH Tom or I will take him for a ride!

eazy there big guy,was just asking a question.

I was at the factory when they were repairing/grinding off the last portion of the inner strakes.big improvement but not what a 2002 hull is.

as far as running your fast /faster 380 on the planet,
who knows one day you may have to stand behind your words and prove it to us ,and if it is great,it is what it is.
I quarantee you one thing Ill be right next to you:drink:

If were lucky will have a couple of drinks sit back and let Calvin explain to us the running surface on his 38,how can a 38 foot boat have 34 feet of hull, but once Calvin explains it im sure it will make sense:eek:

AJ POWERPLAY 09-29-2010 07:33 AM

Tom I know there are only a couple of true 38's out there! When Kevin begins to explain the running surface I would like to be there, I may learn something!LOL
I heard Donzi has a true 38 but I am not sure. It is like putting a top on your pick up bed. If you have a short bed but find a good deal on a top for a long bed you just have a little hanging over the back!!!:evilb:
