Hey now, that's not a Chevy, it's a GMC. Professional Grade. There IS a difference!

BlueOval 05-12-2013 07:09 PM

sorry Adam, could you please explain the difference between a Chevy truck and GMC?

I have a GMC and they cost more because all the badges have not one but three capital letters, that's the major differnce. :lolhit: the rest is a secret that only GMC guys know, ok they come with 40 more HP with the Duramax, unpublished of course.

260 Legend with 6.2

Hello, I'm looking at a 2001 260 Legend with a 6.2 MPI Bravo 1, 4-blade prop. Original owner, VERY clean boat, 300ish hours, asking 29k with a trailer. My first thought is that this boat will be under powered but I'm getting mixed reviews. My buddy spoke with one of the guys at Advantage Marine in Zeeland and he indicated no issues at all with this engine in a 260. This will be a family boat and I have 2 kids under 3 years old so I don't need to go 65mph. I'm looking for reliability and longevity with decent performance for when I go out with the guys. I spoke with the owner and he ordered this engine intentionally for the power-weight ratio since it is ~200 lbs less than big blocks. Yea it still puts out 320hp BUT at a higher RPM and I can't find any torque ratings for the life of me. I'm looking for some feedback on performance, especially from anyone with a 260 with the 6.2.

Also, has anyone installed silent choice? Approx cost?

Thanks!

260 is a great boat, I think you will see mid 50's with that power, but great reliability and should be a low-maintenance setup. You could probably find some silent choice second hand in the swap shop, or you could always go with some turn-downs to keep the noise down while not on plane.

In a previous life I used to run competition mud bogs. I did pretty well at it, and had fun, but if I had all the money I pissed away I'd have a brand new Top Gun!

First run of the season, everything works just like it should. Wish I had a better pic. It felt great to get out on the water.
