Two reasons... your steps being one of them, ease into the throttle and feather it till your on plane. Second, you'll have to quarter into the waves in big water to get on plane consistently... I had the same problem on Lk MI

make sure your spacers are on correctly on the outdrive side of the trim cylinders.
mine were backwards when i bought the boat and the outdrives wouldnt tuck down enough.

I had the same issue and bought 5 blades years ago and LOVE them. I also had 30 pitch 4 blades and IMO they suck, but bought 29 pitch 5 blades and have had great luck with them. You should test a set next time and see for your self.
