wow, were all idiots then, I'm sure theres worse cases but I bought for 46K in spring 06 and sold for 28K in 2010, spent about 20k in repairs in between.

that's why my next boat I really want to buy (cheap) without power so at least I know what I am getting, I dont trust any motor at this point

Clean boat. Should be a touch faster with labbed props

Here is in my opinion a pretty damn good buy if the boat checks out.
I would guess a 72-73 mph boat all day long and even a little newer than you are looking for....
This should spank most twin 290's ass well.

That '01 should run 72-73 under perfect conditions with a light load. That's pretty much what my '01 had with the HP500efi . I could count on 68-70 most anytime

If the motor is a true 550 hp it will run 72 all day, any day.
The boat would not need much set up work,a labbed prop with a little cup to help the nose, proper rpm, etc.... if it isnt set up already.
Hell my 525 Raylar would run that all day full of fuel, loaded with ALL the weekend stuff, 3 cases of beer, water and in any water conditions.....and thats before the header install.
