Winter Upgades, Let's Hear Them

What do you have planned?

I'll come back later to list mine.

nailit 09-25-2013 09:27 PM

New sub (replacing), water pumps and oils.. not realy upgrading, new engines only have about 25 hrs so far. Oh wait, probably going to lab my 24p b1s! And a lil 303 and vaseline on the threads and vinyl!!

But we have another month or so till it gets cool!! Lol

AJ POWERPLAY 09-25-2013 10:55 PM

New engines, seablaze x lights, livorsi monster gauges, possibly shorties... Probably going to run out of money

Drock78 09-26-2013 04:58 AM

depends on if I upgrade boats or not...but if we decide to keep this one, new motor, underwater LED's, LED lighting in the cockpit, paint the bilge and some touch up on the paint

242LS 09-26-2013 05:47 AM

Finish last winter's engine refreshes and and start my boating season before the snow comes.

VoodooRob 09-26-2013 10:10 AM

Both engines are getting the 525 top end maintenance (pull heads, replace valve springs, replace lifters, etc.) boat has 280 hrs. Sending headers to CMI for pressure check and repair as needed. Replacing stereo and stereo controls, have the original 05' Kenwood with the controls at helm and transom.

PQ260SX 09-26-2013 03:09 PM

Assuming we can keep a boat for more than one season without giving in to the urge of upgrading (it would be a first), all new led lights in the cabin, cockpit, and swim platform, installing subs and amps, new custom dash panels and throttle controls, and diamond plating the engine compartment. That is all. For now......

Questofpower 09-27-2013 05:25 AM

I am going to upgrade my bank account from red to black over the winter, went through a lot fuel this last summer best money I ever spent.

PROWRENCH 09-28-2013 08:40 AM

If things come together, then I'll buy Verbi's boat. But with circumstances being what they are, I'll probably lose out on that. So, for the 300 I'm thinking definite stereo upgrade, maybe some LED's, maybe some paint work, and probably a little prop work.

johnny b good 09-29-2013 09:48 AM

I did quite a bit of little things over the last few winters in heated storage. This coming winter I'm looking at adding a Imco full hydraulic steering system, the usual maintance stuff, and a little bigger mirror in the cabin for my girl.

verbi69 09-29-2013 12:41 PM

I'm thinking some new brushed stainless cup holders, regular maintenance to the fuel pumps, maybe a little more wax.

Drock78 09-29-2013 03:28 PM

OH.....and im adding custom CNC'ed step plates and foot rests that are the AT logo and powder coated.

pqjack 09-29-2013 07:00 PM

Install the boost gauge, and get rid of the infamous teal/pink combo...boat is for sale, so minimum work...

Revinchevy 10-01-2013 05:37 AM

Send the blowers out for rebuild and probably send the props out for 33's.

AJ POWERPLAY 10-01-2013 09:54 AM

Revinchevy were the blowers just rebuilt like 60hrs ago? Or did the truth get stretched a little bit trying to make the sale of the boat?

Revinchevy 10-01-2013 10:04 AM

Not sure AJ. I know one needs timed for sure and the others a little noisy at the bearings. Just preventative maintenance. Probably put a new cam in the starboard engine while I've got her half tore down as well.
Nick

Got the engines out of mine....waiting on spring!

POWERPLAY J 10-05-2013 09:18 PM

Picked up new rubrail with the stainless insert so I can look cool like the Cig and Sunsation guys. Need to strip and paint trailer then re bunk it. Flat sand and clear the Imron. Might do all new guages too. Work has been spotty and I will be debt free just in time for the kid to hit college. Looking at planes and debating on listing boat.

abmotorman 10-05-2013 09:22 PM

Currently Installing A/F gauges to map fuel on stock setup before the snow fly's. Probably rebuild both engines w/ XM270HR Cams, new valves, beehive springs and port job to heads. Electric over Hydraulic trailer brakes for spring trip to Florida.

So are you going to dig into the motors to keep up with the PP clan or just go with different power I guess is my question.

Dunno yet.

Revinchevy 10-10-2013 10:51 AM

Looks like I'm gonna have to tear down the strarboard engine. Metal shavings in the oil. Hope it's just the cam like the other one.

PROWRENCH 10-10-2013 04:30 PM

Man that sucks. It doesn't have flat tappet camshafts does it? I can't imagine that it would. Good quality roller lifters don't generally fail that often unless the valve spring pressure is crazy.

AJ POWERPLAY 10-10-2013 05:25 PM

All of that stuff was claimed to be low hour... I would be very unhappy if indeed it was misinformed info to get rid of the boat. But hey- at least when youre done you will KNOW exactly what you have... Thatll give some peace of mind

Yep flat tappet. Smoked the cam in the port engine third time out. Probably swap both out to rollers if thats what i find.

I dont think he misinformed. Im assuming its a cam. Pretty common for these engines around the hours that are on em. Like you said at least ill know.

Revinchevy 10-10-2013 08:17 PM

Ill get her fixed up and ready to rip. AJ get yours together so ive got some competition next summer.

Captain YARRR 10-10-2013 08:18 PM

Working with Full Throttle Marine to rebuild my 377s to a pretty exciting 383 build on my Dominator. Having my outdrives repainted. New trailer tires, fix the left tail light, and if the funds allow I'd love to go EoH brakes. Navigation system.

The plan is to be ready for next year's Texas Outlaw Shootout and then a LOTO trip.

I was planning on doing LEDs inside the boat, but then the engines had other plans for my money.

Wow that's crazy. I would not even consider using a flat tappet camshaft in anything. It just doesn't make sense. Put rollers in there and jesel on top. No more valvetrain worries.

halffast 10-11-2013 08:07 AM

My winter project is to get my boat reliable and use it alot.Try diff props and set ups.I may even bolt on a blackhawk. To do this I must not be wasting time pulling the motor out. hf...

Mine will be ready by spring but im in the same boat, bought used engines and besides sort of going thru them best u can without tearing them down you really dont know what ya got until you run them. And they BETTER run good (as advertised) or im going to be bashing the chit out of the seller on here... :lolhit:

PROWRENCH- Buy 525's and be done with it! Just DOOOOO it!!

Revinchevy 10-11-2013 01:18 PM

Well apparently the shavings were in the drive oil not the engine. Simple miscommunication. New gears and I'll be good to go.

AJ POWERPLAY 10-11-2013 04:00 PM

Call George @ All-American Drive Service, get the cryo'd gears... Especially with the power you are putting out, will last twice as long

Will do. Thanks

Orthobam 10-11-2013 08:17 PM

Motors sent to Native Engines for rebuild
Paint touch up
Drive and tranny service
Put 2000 miles on the boat in 2013. Hope to put 3000 miles in 2014.

Josh LaFountain 10-29-2013 04:01 PM

Fish what does that cost? im a little worried about the endurance of my stock bravo behind my procharger.

Josh LaFountain 10-29-2013 04:06 PM

My upgrades will consist of an ext box and hydro steer, all new interior for sure. should have time to pull the engine to freshin it up rings + arp studs, springs, lifters, metal head gaskets ect. and gonna throw a couple more pounds at the Procharger and a re tune. and if i have anything else i can sell to aquire a couple more grand id like to have a nice set of K Planes.

verbi69 10-30-2013 04:08 PM

Josh, is your boat paint or is that a wrap, post some pics!
