Question Sea strainers

Hi guys,

Need to know if any of the 340vyper owners have
strainers installed in their boat and where in
the motor compartment you installed them. I want to
purchase a set of REX marine strainers for installation
in the spring and need to know the best location and
any fittings you used to complete this.

Thanks for your help
Jeff

BillR is the guy to talk to. I believe he had his installed by PQ so that should give you a good idea on where they put them.

PQ installes them on the "firewall" under each inboard trim pump. Not sure what you need for fittings, other than more hose. Here is a pic on mine on the port side. The strainer is a Gaffrig (Livorsi) and has a anodized red top.

And here is a pic of the starboard side. The strainer is harder to see in this pic.

Hey Bill, can you repost the photos if you still have them?

Thanks, appears you have a bit more room in front of the motors. Are your bilge pumps in front of the strainers?

The bilge pump is further back, you can just see the float switch under the port side strainer.

Apparently the strainers were mounted up on the bulkhead but the previous owner moved them down low to where they are now...I vaguely recall he had some sort of water flow issue.
