Metalpause I am surprise that you are not getting more out of your 525sc as I also have a 99 38 avenger with 500efi"s running 30 inch lab finish props and I am getting 82mph on the gps. I have a tattletale speedometer so if anyone wants to see I am more then willing to take a picture and post it. I had my hull rework back in 2001 and had 3 feet of the back St rake taken off. This let the boat settle down in the water more and give it a better ride. It starts to chime walk above 80 when we get in rough water which I do not like but with running a pad bottom this is expect. If it was a true V like a Cig or Beak nose boat then it wouldn't happen.
I am bumping up to the Rev limiters now so I got pair of 32's sitting in the garage that I am going to try this spring.I really want to change the motors again and put a pair of 525s in so we can get over 85 then I will be happy to leave it alone. You know the old saying there is always someone that is going to go faster then you are but I like leaning the pack coming out of the party cove on Lake Cumberland. Talk to you later

Rich, I think this was meant for you. Maybe those SCs are ready for a rebuild
That would give you a nice winter project. And a place for me to come visit to have a cold one during the cold weather.

By the way, I just read in the new hotboat tonite that Merc is going to unveil their new engines at the Miami boat show, maybe even the LA show in Jan. That will give me something new to think about.

Hey John boat looks good can't wait until I get to see it in person. It makes it nice that you will get to find out what merc has in mind before making a engine choice, maybe you can talk them into letting you be a test boat for them. Well I got lucky this year and found a heated shop so I do not have to winterize it. It is sitting right next to Scott's Cig. I think that starting this January we are going garage boating and maybe even have a cocktail or two. Is Miami's show the same weekend as St Louis? I know it has been in the past.

Wildman1 I talked to PQ about a month ago and they were telling me about the bottom work. I will probably have to get it done to get the speeds that I am looking for. If you don't mind me asking about how much am I looking at for this? Do you have boxes and if so how big are they? I have some photos of my boat running and the water line is about 15 to 18 inches in front of the first step (from the front) do you know where yours runs at. they also said I should look at the x dim. and see just where it is at the boxes may be hurting me more then they are helping. Does anyone else out there have boxes on a PQ? and if so what do you think? They also said that I might want to reprop but I cant test until March or so.

Hey Rich. Let me know sometime when you and maybe Scott will be out there, and Jeff Sheary and I will come by. We will bring the beer.

I didn't know Scott got the cig. What did he get? I assume he will be putting it down on LOTO come this spring. Good thing since the F4 probably won't be done til mid summer. I will be looking to catch a ride with others early this summer.

Rich, you need to change your profile to allow private messages. I tried to send you one but you don't have that turned on. Let me know when you turn it on.

I agree with mentalpause that 80 miles a hour is fast for a 34 with HO's in it. I would think that 75 would be more the norm for that boat and power. The Powerquest boat is fast, but at the same time offers much more than most other boats. Lets face it, it is 2005 and not 1975. Cig, and Fountain, join the real world.

Rich: No I don't have boxes. PQ rework the hull at no charge because i was having trouble with it. I am runnning all the way out of the water until the second step plus I am runnnig a high X dem. I don't like it that way because it doesn't let you trim out much. I can only trim to about 2 on the trim tads.
Yes i agree with the other fellow you go more in a PQ then the other go fast boats. The biggest plus is the standup John for the girls. Seems my boat is always the portable bathroom for the ladies.
The boat origanlly came with 502 415hp and only ran 68mph put Stainless Marine headers on it the first winter got it up to 72 mph. Next winter spend $14000 dollars and put pro-chargers on it and it became a rocket. That create more problems in it I started blowing drives everyother week. I got tried of changing them and rebuilding them so the winter of 2002 brought the 500efi's. Nothing like having a turn key piece of equipment. I am amaze at how fast my boat really is with stock motors.
I still long for having a true Cigarette boat just the line of that boat my be really want to buy one. I was very cost the winter of 2002 at the Maimi boat show but brought a townhouse in Cape Coral for the wife instead. She said it was her turn for getting something as i am always buying myself toys. You have to give in every once in a while. So now I am looking for a lift close to the house down there so I can take it down this winter with us. I rented a pea-shooter last year(anything under 30 ft) and took to much water over the bow. I told the girls your be glad to get back into the big boy when we get home. that about it. They are fast! And fun!! We had three in the club at one time...all doing 80. Mine is the slowest of the three....I needed well labbed props to get there. I have since gone back to stock Bravos to get my cruise speeds back. With gas prices the way they are I could care less about 2 - 4 mph at WOT, which I spend about 1% of my seat time doing. Heck, I spend more time STANDING in the head than I do firewalling the sticks!
