It would not bother me if I know the whole story. They did not look that bad. I would look like some of the suggestions say before I went that far. Good luck.

I replace a gimbal ring myself a few years back on an alpha drive. It was some work but possible. However if you have side to side movement I would think there maybe anothe issue other than the gimbal ring. I may be wrong but I'm thinking you'll see more up and down movement in the drive than side to side. Other than if they are just that bad? Try lifting up on the lower portion of the drive and see what movement you get.
