Top Speed and Cruise 97' 38
#1
Hello Guys-
Have always loved the 38 Avengers. They are a sweet ride with amenities. I was wondering what top speed to expect from a 97 38 with HP500's? Also wondering what cruise speed is around 3200-3500rpm? It has bravos, and I think three blade props. Not sure on the pitch. Probably stock. What are the pros and cons with that style hull vs. the newer steps? Will the ride quality be ok? I have tried a search but top speed seems to apply to 98'and newer with steps. I can't swing that just yet. Thanks for the input.

I am not possitive but I would think that with that power you should be able to get a respectable mid to high 60's. As far as the ride I would think it should be awsome I owned a 29 without steps and it rode great so I cant believe that it would be bad at all. The boats weights 8500 dry so it will take the big stuff. Hopefully that helps you I'm sure someone else will know alot more. Good luck hopefully you will become part of the PQ family

I was hoping to hear that boat would run low to mid 70's.
Maybe I'm dreaming.

I took a used 95 38PQ w/500's out for a sea trial several yrs ago. Ran 72mph. I thought that was slow and dealer did also. He said it had wrong props on it. I said call me when you get it straightened out. Never got a call. I think they usually run atleast 75mph.

I was told from someone at the factory that the 380 without was close to 10mph slower. I would realistically look at very low 70's as a top WOT and mid 40's to low 50's cruise. @ 60 I would guess you would be running every bit of 4500 rpm.
Just a guess
