Hi there. My friend Chris has one of these boats and I had the pleasure of navigating for him at the Thousand Island Poker Run last weekend.
I have to say I have been in a lot of boats in my time but this particular boat and the way it is set up is absolutely AMAZING! Not too many of these boats around???
It's a 40 foot hull with ofsett twins and transmissions are on the outside of the transom. The drives are really offset this way and the boat has four blade stainless props..
It is absolutely unbelievable how fast this boat jumps out of the water and the way it handles rough chop is outstanding!
We were cruising in the poker run at about 70 mph and I happen to look up at the dash and the boost said ZERO!. Can you believe that we were buzzing along at 69.8mph (according to the GPS) and the suoerchargers weren't even working hard yet!
Reggie Fountain pulled up next to us in the big yellow Fountain and we cruised together for a few miles. Then Chris hit the throttles the blowers started to do the familiar whining noise and the boat jumped ahead to 85mph effortlessly! We cruised for a couple of minutes like that pulling away from Reggie, but he hit the throttles and blew past us doing about a hundred or so.
Still at 85 or 86 mph the Profile handled very well and cut the shop like a knife through butter.
The other amazing thing to note is that is the only boat I have ever been in in my forty years of boating that can get up on plane on ONE ENGINE...I kid you not!!!
I suppose it may be that the balance is so good in the way the engine are placed or the way the drives are offset? Anyway it was cool to do this on both sides...one at a time.
I have driven this boat for a very short jaunt but never opened it up to the top. At minor throttling the boat is resposive and fast. It corners well even at three quarter power with no drifting or rear end swing.
Cool boat... I hope to go out again for a ride before the season ends.
