Prop blow out 100+ MPH ???
At what point does a stock Bravo foot blow out the prop.At what speed would you think is the limit on a stock bravo foot and when would a nose cone or a aftermarket style foot would benefit speed????????
Mine is a 2001 low water pick up style bravo.....388 Hustler step bottom.1.30 gear.30p stock bravo one props.
Test at Full tank of gas & flat water
3000 rpm was 47mph
3500 ..............63
4000...............73
5000...............88 and light on fuel was 90mph
WFO one motor around 5750 and the other at 5600 it gets 101mph porpoising bad!!!

I am just wondering if a better foot would help?I have had the new B-Max crescent lowers on order since May
Thanks

Re: Prop blow out 100+ MPH ???
I would say you need some bottom work. I don't know much about the the stepped hulls, but it appears that you are running out of hull surface (strakes) to hold the bow up. Re-look at your tape and note the moving spray line. Half-way in between, look and see what strakes are there to support/hold the bow. If there is nothing but a flat surface, you likely have found the problem.
If any of this makes sense, i can tell you what was done to my hull to get my bow dead still at 100MPH+.

One other comment. I found 4 MPH with the IMCO lower units at the same X as the Bravo lowers at Lake X. I move from 93 to 97 MPH with everything else the same.
I then started raising the X and ended at 101 MPH with the prop shafts 1.25" below the bottom. Non-stepped hull w/engines on 35" centers.

Its stock X. I know the hull has to much stern lift built in to it, Joe at Hustler said do not cut into the strake .it cuts into the stringer and you have to re brace the inside . Some Ive talked to said it helped and others said no. I know it will hurt cruz speed.Joe also said that turning the props in will make it handle worse, chine walking have more Stearn lift.He also said that the hull wasn't designed to go that fast.So I figure I'm hitting a wall a little over 100? Now I am getting the hang of driving it with out any tabs keeping it from chine walking.its just porpoising bad.I guess foots and props work will help that?
Just wondering if the foot will make much difference ??
