Prop Question?????????
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a pair of Mercury #6 Speedmaster 5 blades 16 3/4 x 34 pitch.
Can I "lab" them up to a higher pitch????
I'd like them to be 36's or 38's in pitch.....
If so, where should I send them?
THE PROS??
THE CON??
Thanks,
Otto

Those props are already "lab finished". The true pitch of the props is closer to 35 or 36 as they are now.
If you need to drop the rpm 400, a 2" pitch increase, that can be done as well. It's not a good idea to increase the pitch more than 2".

The 34 and 35 pitch props were were made from the same castings. Since about 1991.
These props "could" actually be Box Stock. We made the decision in the very late 90's to only offer the propellers in Lab status.
My partner Bob pitched every one of these 5 blades for 15 years at Mercury Racing.
They indeed do read at about 1" higher in pitch than stamped. The idea here is really to pull the rpm down by 400. We can do that for you.
What are the stampings on the hub of the prop?

OK, they will have special serial #'s. When was it done? I may have still been there.
We can repitch them to get what you need.
Let me know if we can help.

Sorry for the delay.
We are looking at about $400 per propeller.
I can quote you exactally when we see them.
Thanks and we'll talk to you soon.
