My friend had a 24 Pantera and the Hydro was the best prop for it - in fact I still have that prop in the swap section. He soon upgraded the motor.

What Hydro? I tried a QIV and it worked okay. Not nearly enough bow lift though.

You need the QIV-X. I am not a prop guy but the X is the bow lifting model...[/I]

I know the X is the bow lifter but it was a used prop that I tried.

Will definitely post results. Suppose to be a nice weekend! :D

I found my Turbo 3-blade that revved a little higher than my Mirage that I plan on testing as well.

So how did your testing go?
Did you try a Rev 4?

onesickpantera 06-11-2007 10:12 AM

Well I got to try the Rev 4 this weekend and my it was much better than a Bravo on my boat. Ran looser than a Bravo, much better bow lift and didn't lug the rpms down as much. I was actually surprised that I was able to pull the rpm I did with the prop. Very little slip too!

The Rev 4 seems to work well for ya.
Only 1-2mph slower than a 3 blade Mirage is really good.
I ran a 27p Turbo Fusion 4 last year which has a smaller dia than a B1 like the Rev 4. It was 2+ mph slower than my labbed B1 though. Stock vs. stock they may have been the same.
Brett did tell me he's seen that the Turbo F4 is 1-2mph slower than the Merc Rev 4.
I guess the Rev 4 is a real good 4 blade design for our old school hulls. Too bad they don't make a 27p...

Yeah for a box stock prop I was impressed. Prop was very stable and carried the bow well. I think I'll grab the Rev 4 for the bigger lakes and keep the Mirage for the smaller lakes where I do mostly WFO blasts.

Hopefully they will make bigger sizes down the road.

So would you say the Rev 4 fits between the B1 and the QIV (or did you use the -X model?)

No, on my boat the Rev 4 has more bow lift than the Bravo and the Bravo more than the QIV. I never tried a QIVX. The Rev 4 was also a little "looser" probably because of the smaller diameter and it didn't require a lot of trim.

IMO, the REV4 is the closest to a "4 blade Mirage" prop I have tried.

Thanks. I might take you up on that RH prop!

(This is what Mike did for me but I liked them so much he let me buy them from him, however I would not sell them or at least not seperate if it came down to it..)

No problem I totally understand it would be for testing only and I appreciate the offer!
