Guys,

I have a set of 23P mirage solid hub props that i want to try on my 28 cig with TRS but have run into a snag. It seems that the "right " thrust spacer is letting the prop sit about 3/8" too far on the shaft. Could someone tell me what I am missing here?
the props are # 48-13246-23
the spacer is # 14359

any help would be greatly appreciated

If you push in and turn is it hitting the housing? The old props used to use a splined flat washer and a flat washer before the prop nut. You can use a castle piece, the piece the tab washers lock on for your test.

thanks for the response. The answer is NO that the prop does not hit the housing but its close. It looks like if I had a thick splined washer it would work. I was just afraid that I have the wrong thrust washer.

Jim is dead on! You need the castleated (spelled wrong?) locking spacer. It goes against the propller and under the lock washer. We have them in stock if you need one. I'm at home so I don't have the part number off the top of my head.

12-39701 splined washer sometimes 2 are nec.
12-39698 flat washer
12-31211a 2 washer for rubber hub[(castle piece)
The last piece is very common and should be easy to find to test

Thanks Jim. The castle washer has a superceeded part number to 31211Q03. You may only need that with your old lock washer and nut.

I ran into the same problem with a Mirage 25". It was determined that the prop that I had was a Mirage prop made for a Yahama outboard and did not have the clearance for a TRS. It was a simple matter of having the back hub on the propeller machined so that I could use a thrust washer on the rear and the correct nut, lock washer and splined washer to hold the prop on. I also had the thrust washer machined to fit inside the rear groove that was machined in the propeller. I have not had this problem on any props except the 25". I have had a Mirage 21',23'27' and a Hydromotive and did not have a problem just that darn 25". It cost about $60 at a machine shop in Atlanata, GA area to get me squared away. It has worked perfect for 3 years without a hitch. Good luck!
