Default 1989 Formula 242ss

Hey all,
Just thought I would let you know how my prop change worked on my boat. 89 242ss with 330hp/bravo 1 outdrive. I put emi thunder exhaust on this winter and changed to a 22pitch bravo1 4 blade prop. Before the exhaust i was running about 49mph right at 4600 rpm with a 21pitch mirage. After the exhaust manifold change i was at 50mph at about 4750 rpm. I put the 4 blade bravo 1 prop on and now i am seeing 56mph at 4200 rpm and much better on gas and the boat rides much better, the prop lifts the whole boat up, i would recommend this prop to anyone with an older single engine formula.

Hi very interresting reading

I have a 242 SS 1988 330 hp bravo1 stock exhaust Mirage 17p
I have bought a Mirage 21P after many advices from different
Formula owners. I hav not tested it yet winter time her in Norway.
From what you are saying I have bought the wrong prop
Can you please tell me about rpm crusing speed fuel consume
etc.
It also seems to help with the emi thunder exhaust *S*

Are the speed gps or spedo??

Best regards

Rune

I have been running the Bravo 4 blade 22 for a few years now it`s been a great prop I had it labbed a little. I also have alpha but I have seen 56 gps , just the right conditions. I have the same engine 454/350hp.

Hope this helps

Hei Mark

56 mph if I can reach that speed it would be fantastic.

But 454 BB 330 hp what did you do to get 450??

What is your cruising speed and rpms with the bravo 22 prop??

I think my cruising speed was around 36-38mph at around 3200rpm if I remember correctly. Yes 56 did show on the gps one afternoon a nice breeze and some light chop

If I reach 56 top and 36 crusing I am going to be very happy

What was the rpm at 56 mph and full throtle?

Have you ever tried a Mirage 21 pluss ?

What have you done with the 454 to get those extra 20 HP
normal hp on the 454 is 330 ?
