Agree. Your going to need a 21 it you want to spin it up to 4600.

Well, he should at least get to 4400 wilt the m+. The B1 is somewhat of an anchor to spin, if you don't have big power. If 4100 with a 24" (23½") B1, then down about 3/4" in dia, with one less blade, a bit more slip = 4400ish. I think the 23" could be labbed to 4600. Thin blades, I/8" off the dia. should be 200-250 mph. Brett,,, am I dead wrong here? Hey, your test program is mentioned in post #4:party-smiley-004::lolhit:

Hey gumbya, you should have no problem turning the 23 on your boat. I have a 1990 scarab as well, it came stock with the 330/454 and a 23 mirage. It would turn up 4600 rpm and do about 60mph. I still have the prop if you need to try it.

That m+ should be awesome. The 23 sound right to me.

cdscarab that's exactly what I ran this weekend. Put the 23 Mirage+ and got 60.5 at 4500rpms with 2 people and about half a tank of gas. I'm thinking about 62 when it lightens up...

Good all around prop though, nice plane and no blowout on turns. Gonna sell my 24P 4 Blade Bravo1 if anyone's interested.

And now to get it labbed. Then you should see a speed increase and 100-200 rpm's. Perfect.

Never had a prop labbed before. What can I expect price and performance wise? Any recommendations? I thought the Mirage+ was already "factory labbed"

You can get it factory labbed from merc racing, but the stock prop is not labbed. If you want a "real" lab job, get it done at Bblades or DAH so it will be labbet for your boat, and not just a "standard" lab.

The stock prop and and lab prop has a price diff. of about 400$ or more, so unless you have paid at least 950$+, you can pretty much be sure you have a stock prop.
Give Brett @ Bblades or DAH a call.

Is your speed GPS? If so, either that or the tach might be a little off. Your slip is so low that is seems unrealistic. Of course the prop can be a tad taller like 23½". That is seen before with stock props. Is it a new prop or purchased used? If the latter, check with the prewious owner and ask if he had anything done to it. Something is a little off.

That was GPS speed. Tack seems to working fine. When I was with the 24P Bravo I was at 4100rpm at 58.5 WOT(no gas and 2 people) and with the 23PMirage+ im at 4500rpm at 60.5 WOT(had half a tank of gas and two people).

How come you think it is off?

Good deal, if you decide you would rather have a 21 Mirage plus, I have one for sale.

Well. Let me just start by saying that I made a calculation error. I thought your slip was 4%, and that is just unreal low for that kind of boat. I re-did the numbers and ran it through an online calculator as well, and it is actually 7%, which is about as perfect as can be, so no errors. My mistake, sorry. This also mean you have very good bite, so if you ever come across a LaserII or Vensura 23", give it a try. You'll most likely pick up 1-2 mph and 100-150 rpm's. It will slip a little more because of the smaller dia. so you won't get that feeling of being hooked up, as you do with the M+, but sill not bad, and good for the top end numbers. It sounds like you got a really good match for the boat. As said, you can get a little more from labbing, but that can also cost in the midrange speed - it's a give-and-take deal and depends on what you're labbing for.
