I think forged is the way to go or you'll have to drop the drives. Even after dropping the drives, I think you'll continue to have problems with breakage.... just be able to run them longer before they let go.

Tim Bostic,

Thanks
Who makes a forged prop that fits the 17/16 IMCO shaft with out spending 25K?

I got my new props from Hering last Thursday and tried them out over the weekend. Jeff did a great job with his recommendation on what to use, which was to use their B1 style 32.5 pitch with a thicker base on the blades and since I have the 17/16 output shafts they had to machine out the 1 1/4 splines and weld in the 1 7/16 spline inserts. They hook up great 132mph @ 6200 rpm that's like 7% and I never got better than 12% from any other props before. The best part is they lasted for three days and yesterday i went 11 miles at 130 mph with the trim set at the sweet spot where before the props would last maybe two minutes at that trim angle. They were twice the price of any other props, but the appearance alone made them worth the extra cost.

Hydro-Motive is supposed to have a super strong alloy, have you tried them?
