The max 5 is the best prop I've used, fastest, best cruise speed and by far best handling. Just so you know the velocity will chine walk at some point regardless of prop, this is coming from Steve stepp himself, the guy that built the boat. I'm running in low 90's with the max 5 currently. The p5x worked good but porpous issues with that prop. I want to try a 28 max 5, need more rpm still.
How did the 29 Max5 compare RPM wise to the 28p P5X? Also was it the old style P5x or new casting?

I run a 30p P5X old casting but need some more RPMs but want to try a Max5, but not sure how they compare to each other as far as sizing needed

The p5x was the latest and greatest. The rpm on the max 5 was 200 lower. But cruise was like 400 lower, the boat had more chine with the p5x and just felt uneasy. I have also tried 3 labbed bravo props 28 29 and 30. This max 5 prop is like magic. No more pourpus and very little chine. worth every penny.

Just send in the p5x and have him tweak it. I did that with mine. He can make it a 29.

I would guess a 29max 5 will pull about same rpm as your 30 p5x

Thanks for the replies....

I'd like to keep the P5X as is, just as a back-up and/or every day prop as the cruise is great (just in case Max 5 ends up being top speed fastest, but not mid range)

So, ya I think based on your replies, and being about the same RPM for same pitch, I really should try a 29P Max5. Let me know if you find a 28P and want to sell that 29P lol

Is your P5X the old casting or new?

Old casting has the part # stamped inside the hub
New casting has the part # engraved on the outside of the hub between blades.

I ran a new casting 30p and nowhere near as good as my old casting 30p mid range and top speed... And mine is out of the box stock
