What kind of speeds did these boats see? I've seen some of the 23's with a 454 around up around 70! With a 23p mirage I got 54.6 and a 24p stilleto I got 57 but bogging at 4000 rpm. I spent most of my summer when I had her out trying to find the right prop. Maybe after all the repairs I'm doing replacing soaked wood are done it'll go faster because its lighter. haha

The 265 with a 7.4L 330hp Bravo One and a 23p Mirage ran 63mph. The 7.4L Mag 365hp ran right at 70mph.

I would weigh your hull after repair.

Hull design change in 1989 did not change top speed but did improve the ride in rough water.

Wow, exactly what ^he said. I'm hoping that this boat was just really water logged. The motor runs really strong so I'm curious to see how she runs after she's all back together. I'd be stoked to crack into the 60s

Havin these kinda projects are the only way I can afford my toys. Buy cheap and make it something! I hate grinding, I do body work for a living but that sucked! That was 16 hours of hell! But on the up side, shes ready for some new wood! I'm real happy with the progress I made this weekend! I'm gonna start fabbing the transom next and working on getting the engine compartment back into shape. Gotta call up US Composites this week! Here's some pics! happy New Years all!

Got some awesome progress done yesterday and today. I got 75% of the wood cut and fit in so far. The transom and cabin stringers are glued together and the bulkheads are cut in and fitting really nice. I'm gonna order my resins and mats tomorrow so I can start waterproofing everything and get some glass back in the boat for good within the next couple of weeks! Here's some more pics. This weekend I'm gonna work on painting my intake and valve covers so I can work on finishing up the motor.

I had a friend take a picture of me in my dust suit wearing a respirator grinding out old stringers w/a 7" grinder. Told him I'd be able to see how miserable I was so I'd never do anything so stupid again.
That was 25 yrs ago and have done 10 more since then :helmet:

haha it was awful, seriously awful. I was using my three inch angle grinder and it blew up, the gears stripped out haha. Junk Blue Point. I'm really happy with the progress, I did not think it would go this fast. Once the hull is prepped it seems like things come together pretty quickly. I'm hoping by the end of February I'll have everything glassed in and I can start painting the engine compartment and work on redoing the dash!
