looking good,
if you can keep a resin count on all that fresh ply, curious to see what it takes.
hey just noticed the sides of the engine room hatch gutter area are notched, is that for the headers ?

One of the previous owners notched that area, for whatever manifolds they were running at the time. I'm not sure if it was from Scott, the guy I bought it from, or some other owner.

I'm not sure where I will be with my SM Gen III's. If I can find a set of Arneson ASD-8's with a drop box I am going that route now. I'm really torn to sell all of my SSM stuff, but I don't don't see them handling the power I can make. With a fresh uncut transom, I'd rather just convert everything over to ASD's, and never worry again about drives.

did i read what i thought i read in one of your other threads ?
you've already let it slip so it's time to ;
come clean / spill the beans / put it out there / lay it down / walk us thru it / give us the skinny,
give us the lowdown / bring us up to speed / what's the straight dope / what's the big idea ?
or not !

Ha- You’re funny! Ok here’s the scoop- I bought a ‘94 Scarab Thunder 43. It’s the Alloy Composite Laminate , triple SC 600’s, and #5 drives. It's a very nice package, that of course, I’ll be changing a bit. I’ll be pulling the engines and converting to a twin stagger set up. My quad rotor 572s will be going in, and the 5s will be going on boxes. It’s going to be a great boat when I make the needed changes and updates.

So with that said, the 38 will be getting wrapped up. I’m going to finish the needed repairs, put it back together, and then sell it. Someone will have a nice hull to add the power and drives they want.

How did you find out about this??? I was trying so hard to not spill the beans until this weekend, which is when I pick the boat up. I almost made it! Ha, or did you put 2& 2 together with my #4 drive ad?

embarrassed that i forgot "the scoop", it could have led to another line !

you outed it on the asd thread no big deal, congratulations, and you'll need another bringing it home / build thread.

so the 377 could be side by side 600's w/ 4's to the right party,
(back in the late 80's the 420's came w/ a 3 as an option, so 600sc's and 4's sounds like a real good package)

the 43 which is just a damn good looking boat converted to stagger
with driveline trans, transom assy and drive etc in reserve

we will of course need pics asap w/o excuses

Ha- don’t worry, I’ll be starting a new thread on the new boat. Look for pics on my typical upload day, Sunday.

I don't think I ever really discussed the 572's in this thread. They were originally Eickert 1000's. Here are the original specs:
572 Cubic Inch
Dart Big M with steel caps
Canfield 350 Heads
Callies Cranks
Carrillo Rods
Crane custom Eickert cam - 258/262,. 714/.714, 110
TD Shaft Rockers
External oil pump with wet sump pan.
10/71 Blower Shop Blower and Eickert Intercooler.
Holley EFI with EFI Technology Computer

I was told 1000 hp dressed.

I sold the blower set up complete, and replaced it with the Quad Rotor Whipples and MOAC intercoolers. I briefly discussed cam options with Eddie Young and he said I can easily make 1100 hp on a hydraulic roller. So now I'm up in the air to go hydraulic or solid lifter.

With the 38 I was worried about over powering the hull, but with this 43, it will take all the power I can throw at it. Plus with the 38 I was going to run #4 drives, and the 43 has #5 Drives. The 4's are fine in the 900-1000 range, but I would not feel comfortable with 1200 hp going to them. The 5's will support that.

So that is the story on the engines.

We can make the 43 a flat deck I just happen to have the molds for that. Just saying ! Let me know if you want the stringer layouts for the staggered setup.

Thanks Dan- Yes, if you don't mind, I would like to have the stringer layouts. The boat I bought was part of Tim Leslies collection, you have his #5 boat now. If it's easier to e-mail them, here is my e-mail. [email protected]

Thanks again!
