Default '82 38 KAAMA Scarab

So here is my latest project. It's an '82 KAAMA Scarab, in original complete condition. Couple of the guys on the Scarab page wanted some pictures so I decided to do this Restoration tread.

As a whole the boat is solid. I've found a few issues here and there structurally that need to be addressed, but so far nothing terrible. I need to re-tab the two bulk heads in the cabin and address some stress cracks on the deck, but this is to be expected on a boat of this age in my opinion. So here is the game plan. The cabin is getting gutted and updated with all new Ultra Leather fabric. The ugly red carpet gone, not sure what I'm doing there yet. All the teak will be removed and replaced. The veneer will be replaced with new and the trim refinished. I love teak and it's going to look great when it's done.

Up top- Yes the side by side bolster is gone. I've got a set of McLeod power bolsters out of an '05 Fastec that will be going in instead. The back bench will be changed and as of now I'm planning on keeping the teak side panels and stock instrumentation.

As for power and drives. The stock 420's and TRS are being pulled. For now I'm installing my 650 hp 509's, and going with SSM 4 or 5 drives. At some point I'll supercharge the 509 and maybe stroke it.

So here are some pictures of what I'm starting with. First picture is the boat when I bought it. 4 years of dust.

Next fall I'll repaint the sides and this year the deck is getting refinished.

The seat as a whole is solid and very usable, it just needs new vinyl. How's $400 sound?

SSM V Drives are on the way, along with boxes, transmissions, and steering. The drives and transmissions were just overhauled by TnT and have zero hours on them. LOL, the expensive part is out of the way.
