Update
You guys will be proud of me. Although it is not an outdrive :(
I ordered the new Cam & lifters , gaskets ect.. to start putting my motor back togather. I hope to take my heads to the machine shop within the next few days to have the reciever grooves cut out & also a slight compression raise to get it where I want it. I will have a few small things to do after that such as glass bead the intake , some basic clean up ect... & I will get everything back in order & decide exactly what color I will put on it. Progress is not going as quick as I hoped it would , however it is progress. |
Cool. Post some pics when you get it together.
Can we assume you are going with a blower since the heads will have reciever grooves? CTA |
Yes the boat will have a supercharger on it. ( a rather large centrifical ) :D. Actually I am eliminating the reciever grooves That are were already in the heads. I will be shure to post some pics. ( hopefully soon )

Heads are taking a trip to the Machine shop this afternoon.
|
Took my motors in a few weeks back for a valve job on the heads and they ended up getting complete overhaul on both.
|
Both sets of heads or the motors ? I assume the motors by the comment. Ifso that stinks & is always a rude awakining ! :(
I just took them my heads & told them exactlly what I wanted. How much I want them milled so I know what my combustion chambers will come out at , & told them exactly how I wanted my springs set up ect.. I always do everything myself with the exception of any machine work. That way I know that it is done right & I know exactly what is going on. Not that there arn't great reputable engine builders out there that do what they say they & will do no more no less , because there are many. the guy I took my heads to is an old friend of mine from my street racing days & I have much confidence in him. That is the key , Having a good working relationship with a machine shop that you trust. Almost like keeping a good banker or 2 that is willing to work with you. It seems atleast for me in this sport that they are both very important. |
Both sets of heads and both motors. It started innocently enough with a valve job and snowballed from there.
I usually do my own assembly after the machine shop work is done but I thought it would go quicker if I took it to a shop. Unfourtunately it was not quicker and will probably cost me a ton but at least it's done and I won't have to 2nd guess myself. Good luck with the project. It should scream when it's done. |
glad to this boat going somewhere
i am glad to see someone turning the 96 cyclone into something . my parents live down the road from where the boat sat for sale i must have drove by it 50 times and imagined what could be done with or how i could talk my wife into two 28 sabers. keep up the good work and keep us posted
