Don't go back to red with the interior . Might as well be black . You could fry an egg on it .

Dan Adams 06-03-2008 04:17 PM

ya, it looks great but...maybe grey with some yellow and red smaller panels.
Hey WS402, why doesn't the boat need the ballast tank?

SKRAMER 06-03-2008 05:28 PM

Did you hear from the bank yet??

Dan Adams 06-03-2008 05:57 PM

No. The broker said the offer will be presented to a lawyer then the lawyer presents it to the bank?? Like maybe the cash goes to more than one party?? I'm only guessing. Hope this doesn't turn into a summer long thread.

TexomaPowerboater 06-03-2008 08:58 PM

I recall reading about how this boat was tied up in some litigation..........maybe even a bankruptcy. Didn't want to say anything as I am still not sure, but that could definitely explain the lawyer thing..........and why its been sitting for so long. If it is indeed a bankruptcy the proceeds can go to different parties. Make sure you get it free and clear of ALL LIENS. I don't pretend to be an insider, just recall reading a post or two about it. I would just ask the broker about it, that stuff is usually disclosed up front. Good luck, awesome boat.

Thanks Tex, I read the link you sent. I knew it had a history. I'll be reading the fine print.

Dan , good luck with the offer on the 41 ! If you get this thing , there are some things you need to know . Feel free to contact me any time for the details . As far as the ballast tank comment from WS402 .... he is right , the boat doesn't need it . Just one of the "overkill" features that were built into the boat to make it what it is . It aint flashy , it aint pretty , and the t-shirts are all gone ( well , I might have a few left ? ):drink: ... but it works at 100 mph in open water like nuthin else !

littledcsrodshop 06-04-2008 09:25 PM

"there are some things you need to know" C'mon Jerry your not really going to tell him about the secret storage compartments with the spare #6's , or perhaps the button you push with the extra gauge panel pops out from under the dash just incase you happen to have a gauge failure are you ?? lol...

I have a few t-shirts left!!!:drink:

Dan Adams 06-05-2008 07:32 AM

BRD, it ain't flashy or pretty...no doors to fall off, no ice boxes to desintigrate, no cushions to end up in a pile...I can't imagine. All I can think of is the famous Apache video with the comentary from the helicopter. Those guys were gitn-r-dun.

Dan Adams 06-05-2008 07:33 AM

CJ ! we need to talk about those shirts.

Dan Adams 06-05-2008 07:37 AM

I called North Shore yesterday about the offer. They said no word yet and it might be a couple more days...and yes the proceeds of the sale would go to more than one party.

SKRAMER 06-05-2008 09:00 AM

How are you planning on detuning her??

Dan Adams 06-05-2008 09:30 AM

Lowering boost, timing. I'll call in a local engine builder I trust to help....after compression an leak down tests, and maybe run it some this summer, if all goes well.
Complete rebuilds this winter, hopng to make the Sterlings live as long as possible.
Any suggestions? Cost will be an issue.

TexomaPowerboater 06-05-2008 09:33 AM

I would suggest sterling do ALL the work. They are to expensive not too..............

Yes , that is one of the issues I was getting at ... things you need to know if you get the boat .....

Dan Adams 06-05-2008 09:59 AM

Tex, they "were" expensive, but not worth much now from what I'm told. Sterling is a great outfit but really not in the budget for me.

Dan Adams 06-05-2008 10:07 AM

Jerry, I will need your info when it happens. I won't fire up the motors, until I talk to you and several others.

Cool ! Good luck with the purchase ect .....

Nykamp 06-05-2008 10:47 AM

There is no body local that should be working on those motors, go to Tommy like I told you. You have the same blocks as I do, 653ci super tall decks. They don't make our blocks anymore so I wouldn't have a local play with them. I believe CJ can fill you in on some storys about local builders.

Don't worry buddy I already have them sitting on my desk for you!!

This weekend you and I can take a couple of minutes and go over some engine options. I know Parn gave you a big # but Tommy at Chief can take what you got and work his magic and do them for alot cheaper. C'mon North Shore!!!!!!!!!!

MidnightRider 06-08-2008 06:45 AM

Interior- Craig at Appearance is the only place to go. His man Nick is doing all the custom Skater interiors. He did my Challenger Interior this spring. You are welcome to come down and see mine. My shop is ten minutes down the road from Appearance. Those rap around Skater style rear buckets with head rests are insane. Emily has all my photos saved, it will be in their next brochure. Like I said, anytime you can come down and look at mine, search the general for Appearance Products and my rear seat is shown, its sick.

I agree on the Engine builders, Between my friends and I everyone has a horror story from the area. My shop just did a repair on D. Korhorns Cougar that did not run right all last summer. A well known, I won't trash them here, local builder put it together. A Blown 588 that no one tightened the poly locks down on the #4 cylinder, kicked the push rods out and a lifter. Lucky it did not hurt anything, but just a mistake an engine shop should not make. MR PS I do have a well worn Wicked Won T in my drawer if you want it.:drink:

LEOPAJM 06-09-2008 03:02 PM

Any updates yet Dan ?

Lets talk about the interior ideas .... I may be interested in a change on mine as well ?!?!?!

Dan Adams 06-09-2008 04:31 PM

The latest word from North Shore is the middle of this week. Funny thing, I was in the show room Sunday afternoon going over WW to see what was onboard as far as parts...thinking about what I want onboard...measuring the blower pulleys (47 tooth top, 55 tooth bottom), anyway, they all left and locked the doors with me inside WW!! I guess...just lock up on my way out.
JM, I want to go with two drop out bolsters at the helm and a mildly bolstered bench seat in back with dropouts for the bench as well. All manual drop outs, not fancy electric ones. The must be industrial looking too. Maybe some of the grey carbon fiber looking stuff. For sure, plain jane and heavy duty. Any ideas? Yours?

JM, I'm going nuts here...no answers from North Shore on my offer, they keep saying a couple more days. What can you share with me about the Sterlings???
Dan

LEOPAJM 06-10-2008 07:19 AM

Those seats look real nice ! I had the silver carbon in mind for one day when it came time for the 28 to get a redo..

Dan Adams 06-10-2008 09:38 AM

When the time comes for one or the other of us...we will need to get together on a design...they gotta match...maybe a touch of black or red in there? I like the style...Appearance is only 20 minutes from my shop. Had them do some work on the other boat. Great to work with.

Yes ..... sounds good .... lets get together with Appearance on a design .

Dan Adams 06-10-2008 10:49 AM

JM, told you it was driving me nuts. So many things, blower drive pulleys, timing, cockpit interior, compression and leakdown tests, remove old fluids, filters and replace, spare belts, plugs, tools, make it legal.....can't do a thing til they give me an answer.
Oh, Sterling has been very helpful with some info.

This is Craig with Appearance. We did the cover for your boat when you took delivery of it. I actually bought the first saber ever built (28') Parnell and I were talking about upgrading your boat interior when it was at my shop. I never heard anything further on it.
We now do all of the Skater Powerboats Custom interiors. Check out their website to see some of our work.
http://www.skaterpowerboats.com/interiors.html

We would love to work out a deal for you and your boat!

Sabers Rock!

Sounds like a plan Craig . As you know .... things got weird up there as mine was getting finished .... the upholstery got put on the back burner . Lets talk about this as the summer goes on . :ernaehrung004:

JM

LEOPAJM 06-11-2008 09:44 AM

BTW ..... The once up in post #70 would work in my boat pretty well !!!!

MidnightRider 06-12-2008 01:40 PM

Not trying to stir the pot, but who was screwed in the WW outcome. Was it Dietz or Saber, or both?:party-smiley-004:

Dan Adams 06-12-2008 02:13 PM

??? yes and please, no stirring.
