Mike....your right, it will probably take all of 500 lbs to calm that
unit down. Look at the Sutphens and Bananas with respect to
where the gas tanks are....tops are not much higher that the
crankshaft line....there's a reason for that. The stock boats are
as low as they can go. George

I agree 100% george

Talked to art last week, told him I used to have a hydrostream that porpoused real bad. Put 50 lbs of sand up front and prob solved!!

I wouldn't wanna keep 4 or 500 in the bow as a perm solution, but it may get band aid results and thats a start!!
Good luck

At this point it has to be either a CG issue or a bottom issue. The boat did the same thing before but it was "controlable". ALL changes so far have resulted in zero to little change including adding 2 surboards off the back of the boat. So I think we can safely say it is not a drive height problem, not a drive problem (unless the drive is moving the CG to far back) and not a prop issue. Arti were you ever able to find out what the CG was on the boat that had the #5's on it? My guess is that the CG is about between the front of the motor and the tank. That is WAY to far back.

Try dif fuel levels? Run the tank almost dry?

Sick Stinger 11-12-2011 09:11 AM

Mike thats what I was thinking. Run tank very low and bag the sh!t out of the front of the boat that way its a huge differance in cg. Then you can subtract a bag at a time or ad 10 gal. at a time or 5 gal seeing as a gal. is 4.6 estemate.

A gallon weights about 6-6.5 pounds depending on type of fuel and temperature....

:lolhit:We'll just say mikes dyslexic meaning to say 6.4

The tank location will raise the center of gravity but the porpoising issue is longitudinal. If it takes 500 lbs (how much do you think that is at 10'?)in the bow to calm it down do the math, you can not move enough of the engine, drive and fuel tank to fix it!

I truely believe i am dizlexic!

Theres about 20 gallons in there last two tests.

The shortie with spacer is now back on.
We will make another attempt Sunday with the sand bags.

Random thoughts...
DRIVE:
How much more does the Konrad Ace got over a bravo?
It is also 8 inches back off the transom.
BW transmission in the ext.box

ENGINE:
10-71 Blower
intercooler
Biggest coolers money can buy.

Anyone wanna take a stab how much more weight over the original setup?
